Today we’d like to introduce you to Damián Longoria.
Hi Damián, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Damián, founder of Hubble. I moved to Austin two weeks before the infamous winter storm in 2021 after graduating from A&M. At the time, I was working in sales at Oracle, but didn’t know many people in the city. To meet others, I started hosting get-togethers and, through that, met DJs and organizers who pulled me into Austin’s growing music scene.
What began as house parties and renegade pop-ups turned into boat parties, city shows, and eventually our first festival—Once Upon a Time in Austin. That experience really solidified the idea for Hubble for me, and I made it my Roman Empire. I saw firsthand how difficult it was for both artists and organizers to connect, especially in a city with such a vibrant but fragmented scene, and I thought… why not help out a scene I have come to love so much.
By 2023, I started framing Hubble as the “Airbnb for artists”—a way to book performers as easily as booking a stay, but for shows. Over time, the vision evolved. Today, Hubble is now focused on helping organizers and artists understand their audiences—moving beyond RSVP counts to uncover what brings people in, what keeps them there, and what makes them return.
Now, with a CTO along with some partners by my side and a product in motion, we’re building something I believe can change how live events are created and experienced. Music and live events have given me community, joy, and resilience. If Hubble can help bring that same sense of connection to others, that’s success to me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not smooth. At one point, I was laid off from my corporate job and was couchsurfing with friends when I didn’t have a place to stay. I even spent a week living out of my car. To eat, I relied on a cafeteria downtown that came with my founders’ community membership—without that, I’m not sure how I would have managed.
My family often urged me to come home. It wasn’t because they didn’t believe in me, but because they were worried about how much I was sacrificing for Hubble. On top of that, the costs of development piled up, and even after landing a new job, I was slipping into debt just trying to keep things afloat. For a long time, I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel…
What changed everything was when my CTO came into the picture. Having someone equally committed to the vision gave me both relief and renewed belief in the journey. Still, the toughest battles were internal—the self-doubt, the temptation to quit, and the constant voice asking if it was worth it.
But here I am, still pushing forward.
I saw this weird TikTok, I think it was the Jelly Roll speech from the CMAs – he said “the windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror for a reason, because what’s in front of you is so much more important than what’s behind you”. Been keeping that one in my back pocket.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Hubble?
Hubble is a platform and app built to make live events smarter and visible. We’re starting with music because that’s where our roots are, but our vision extends to all types of live experiences. What we do is help organizers truly understand their audiences—moving beyond RSVP numbers to uncover what brings people in, what keeps them there, and what makes them return.
On top of that, we’re building a community layer that captures audience feedback and engagement in real time. Fans/audiences can share their experiences, and organizers and artists can use those insights to improve what they create. That’s what sets us apart: we’re not just tracking attendance, we’re tracking the pulse of live events.
What I’m most proud of brand-wise is that Hubble is grounded in authenticity. We’re not here to be another cookie-cutter event tool—we’re here to support the culture, starting with local music and growing into the broader live event space. Our goal is to empower organizers with data they’ve never had before, while giving fans a voice in shaping the experiences they love.
Imagine a world where we knew exactly what audiences wanted—what hooked them to attend, what made them stay, and what brought them back for more. With data and little help from AI, we could even recommend you what to do based on what you already do… That’s the world Hubble is building. Our slogan is ‘Capture Your Space’ because we believe every live event creates a unique moment in time, and we’re here to help organizers, artists, and fans truly capture and understand it.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
For me, the most important quality is grit. I remember reading Angela Duckworth’s book (Grit: The Power of Passion and Perserverance), and it felt like it was written just for me. How I felt internally, thrown onto pages – I finally had a way to understand myself and my views.
I’m a scrappy founder, with a scrappy team, building a scrappy product. I know what failure looks like, but I don’t know what quitting looks like. That mindset has carried me through the setbacks, the uncertainty, and the grind of building something from nothing. I love what I do and everything it has taken me to get here.
At the end of the day, talent and ideas matter, but what’s made the biggest difference for me is simply refusing to give up.
