Today we’d like to introduce you to Colt Biddy.
Hi Colt, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I spent over 15 years working as a full-time musician, and Austin was always home base. It’s the live music capital of the world for a reason and it shaped me as an artist and gave me a community I’ll always be thankful for. But when the pandemic hit, the music world flipped upside down. At the same time, my personal life was changing in the best way. Carol Ann and I got married in 2020, and in 2022 we welcomed our twin boys, John and Nathaniel. We’ve got another son, William, on the way this December.
Becoming a dad really made me think about the kind of stability and legacy I wanted to create for my family. That’s what pushed me to start Lady Bird. The name comes from our standard poodle, Lady Bird, who’s basically our first child, but it’s also a nod to Austin and Texas in general, Lady Bird Lake, Lady Bird Johnson, even one of my favorite shows, “King of the Hill.” It just felt right.
I started out with exterior cleaning in 2021, and since then we’ve grown into Lady Bird Construction Clean, which focuses on helping builders and property owners with both interior and exterior construction cleaning. Austin’s a city that encourages people to reinvent themselves while staying true to their roots. That’s exactly how I see my journey, from music, to fatherhood, to business ownership, all of it comes back to building something that lasts for my boys and being proud of where I come from.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I don’t expect it to be. One of my favorite songwriters, Ray Wylie Hubbard, has this line: “On the days I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations, I have pretty good days.” I try to live by that, especially when life throws a curveball.
Going from a self-employed solo performer to a self-employed business owner was a big shift. In music, you’re chasing gigs and hoping people show up. In business, you’re chasing clients and hoping they pay on time. Either way, it takes patience, and a willingness to keep showing up.
Then you throw in becoming a parent to twin boys at the same time, and you realize sleep is optional but not success. Juggling new parenthood and a new business is like trying to play a guitar solo while balancing a toddler on each arm. Some days are messy, some days are chaotic, but most days are still pretty good if I focus on what I’m grateful for.
Gratitude for my family, for the work, and for this amazing community has made the road not just easier, but a lot of fun.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Lady Bird Construction Clean started with a simple idea: do the job right the first time. We specialize in interior and exterior construction cleaning, from post-construction debris removal to window cleaning and full-site preparation. Our goal is to get a project move-in ready without the stress and deliver what we call ‘the Lady Bird difference.
From the start, we wanted our brand to reflect approachability and transparency. Whether we are working with hands-on tradespeople or managing luxury properties, we want every client to feel comfortable and confident. We make crossing the finish line a smooth, satisfying milestone rather than a chore.
Choosing Lady Bird means choosing quality and care over quick fixes or cheaper options. You choose Lady Bird when you want it done right and done well.
I am most proud that Lady Bird feels like an extension of our family. The name comes from our standard poodle, Lady Bird, but it is also a nod to Austin, from Lady Bird Lake to Lady Bird Johnson, and the city’s culture that inspires everything we do. Our brand is about integrity, professionalism, and a personal touch that sets us apart.
When you hire Lady Bird, you are hiring a team that treats every job like it is our own. We focus on long-term results and genuinely care about leaving spaces better than we found them.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve been fortunate to have an incredible support system helping me get to where I am today. First and foremost is my wife, Carol Ann. She has been my partner in every sense, helping guide the business, keep things organized, and push through the tough days. Our sons, John and Nathaniel, are also a huge motivation. Knowing I’m building something lasting for them keeps me moving forward.
Leslie Starnes has been an amazing connector, helping open doors and make important introductions along the way. I’ve also learned a lot from peers and local experts like Bill Cafferata, and Chris Giliberto. Every person and every lesson, including those that came from challenges along the way, has helped shape me as a business owner and guided the way I approach Lady Bird.
And then there are countless others, too many to thank individually, who have offered advice, support, or encouragement. If you think you should be on my list, you already are. Every bit of guidance, every introduction, and every word of encouragement has played a part in getting us where we are, and I’m truly grateful for it.
