Today we’d like to introduce you to Maddy Velez.
Hi Maddy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always loved creating content for myself because I enjoy sharing my life with the world in fun and creative ways. My content journey really took off here in Austin earlier this year when I met a local business owner and did my first collab. I realized how much I love supporting small businesses and helping them grow while getting to be creative at the same time.
Now, through @lifewithmaddyv, I share a mix of travel and the everyday things I love: fashion, wellness, trying new restaurants, and documenting my journey of becoming the best version of myself. Austin has been the best place to do all of this. I’ve lived here for the last eight years, and I’m still discovering so many cool spots and opportunities that keep me inspired.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not always a smooth road. Putting yourself out there on social media can feel really vulnerable, and in the beginning I definitely struggled with imposter syndrome, wondering if people would care to see my content. I’ve also had to learn how to balance my full-time career with creating content, which can be challenging.
But honestly, those challenges have pushed me to grow. I’ve learned to stay consistent, focus on the joy of creating, and remind myself that my content doesn’t have to be perfect, it just has to be real. Every collab, every post, every connection I’ve made has been worth it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Through my platform @lifewithmaddyv, I create lifestyle content that blends travel with the everyday things I love such as fashion, wellness (lots of matcha), dining out, and capturing little moments that make life special. I’m known for keeping my content authentic and relatable while highlighting local businesses and unique experiences, especially here in Austin. Supporting small businesses has become one of my favorite parts of this work because I love seeing how my content can help them grow and reach new people.
What I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built by sharing my life in a real way. People connect not just with the places I go or the outfits I wear but with the stories behind them. What sets me apart is that balance. I care just as much about creating something beautiful as I do about making it meaningful.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success isn’t just about numbers or achievements. I define success by how fulfilled I feel in what I’m doing and the impact it has on others. If my content inspires someone to try a new restaurant, take a trip, or even just see beauty in their everyday life, that feels like success to me. It’s also about growth, continuing to challenge myself, create in new ways, and become the best version of myself.
