Meet Jessica Taylor of Golden Hair Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Taylor.

Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always loved all things beauty, so becoming a stylist felt natural for me. I am 20 years in and it’s still so rewarding. What I love most is that it’s never just about the hair, it’s about connecting with people. My “why” is my amazing daughter Lucy. I worked hard to build my career behind the chair to give her opportunities in life, and I strive to be someone she’s proud of while showing her she can do anything she puts her mind to. Over time, I realized I wanted to take the best of what I’d learned from other salons and create a space that truly reflected my values. That’s how Golden was born.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a single mom while building a career in this industry was one of my biggest challenges. Juggling long hours behind the chair, making ends meet with a second gig/job, while trying to be the best parent I could be often felt overwhelming, but I kept going because I trusted that hard work and the energy you put into people always comes back to you. I’m forever grateful for my family and the friends who’ve become family! Their support has made all of this possible. And of course, Eric. My amazing husband and partner in both life and business, has been the balance to my free-spirited, “woo woo” side. He loves Golden as much as I do, and together we’ve turned a leap of faith into a salon rooted in community, connection, and shared values.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in creating natural looking, timeless hair that never feels overdone. What makes Golden special is that every stylist brings their own unique vibe. We’re not a one-size-fits-all salon. Each of us has our own creative voice. I am most proud of the one thing we all share, kindness and genuine care, and that’s the energy clients feel the moment they walk through our doors.

What’s next?
Right now, I’m focused on Golden continuing to run smoothly and learning from the endless lessons that come from the experience of salon ownership. I’m also trying to stay more present instead of constantly chasing the next big goal, to enjoy what I’ve built and the community around it. My coworker and dear friend Bailey and I recently started a book club as a way to connect beyond the salon. We have hosted continuing education sessions to fellow stylists and have toyed with the idea of bringing yoga and other wellness gatherings into the space when the timing feels right.
