Hi Savannah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Oddly enough, my profession found me! As a teen I saw myself working in the medical field treating autoimmune diseases with the ambition to find a cure for my grandmother who was surviving Scleroderma as long and best as she could. As I moved quickly through my Psychology and English degrees, a natural gravitation towards becoming an impact in the world of sex and relationships evolved quickly into a greater passion. Here we are 20 years later, with a master’s in professional counseling, sexology, 2 residencies, 4 kids, 2 dogs, and an underutilized bed! I consider my clients in practice and audience I educate, as a second family I’ve chosen. As a published author, former higher education department director and instructor, conference presenter, and clinician by degree and soul, I cannot imagine a world without the lives I am blessed to be included in every day by the minute.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Somehow I seem to find the hardest paths for travel in my journey and yet the rocky obstacles have given me the confidence to own my expertise and direct approach in practice and public speaking. Bluntly I am a proud mama of 4 kiddos ages 17, 15, 7, and 5. I have a strong belief that honesty and elimination of shame, guilt, and doubt allow for human imperfections and expectations. A smooth road may have felt easier but my clients and children today would not have the highest level of quality and ethics that I wholeheartedly practice every minute of the day.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Growing up in the Rio Grande Valley located on the borders of Texas and Mexico, there are basically two loves in life: family and Las Vegas Cafe in Harlingen Texas. To this day, I can smell, taste, and subtly as possible tear up when I reflect back in the best moments of my life. My grandma Beverley and I would watch the Young and the Restless soap opera while applying makeup and getting dressed for the day. We would go with just us or up to 10 members of close family and friends in a tiny no fuss, best Mexican food restaurant on earth and just live in the present moment.
