Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucy Evans.
Hi Lucy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story with Adelyne’s Boutique & Gifts started with a leap of faith and a chance encounter. In March 2024, I became the owner after stepping into a little shop owned by a former teacher ready for a new chapter. I’ve always believed that shopping should be more than just getting new things- it should be an experience where people feel welcome and happy. That feeling is what I strive to create at Adelyne’s.
Ever since, my days have been filled with searching for just the right dresses, gifts, and everything else I know our customers will adore. I love curating small batches of new arrivals, chatting with regulars about their latest finds, and seeing the joy on someone’s face when they discover the perfect piece. The sense of community that has come along with this experience has been incredible, and has made every early morning and late night worth it.
I’m very lucky that I was given the chance to create the store I’ve always wanted to shop at, and even more blessed to have made the connections with my community I’ve gotten to along the way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The last words anyone in my life would use to describe me are “tech-savvy.” Reworking a business into having a profitable online presence and store without an understanding of how to actually do that was a tough road to walk. When I first took over, I had to figure out everything from Shopify and email marketing to advertising, inventory management, and even what to stock for the holidays. It was a lot to take in all at once! It involved a lot of mistakes, classes, and redos to get to this point. I came to Adelyne’s without any knowledge of the marketing and advertising expertise that is needed in my day-to-day, and I am so grateful for the amount of learning and the know-how I’ve acquired in the past year.
Technology aside, one of my biggest struggles is always dealing with a little “FOMO” when it comes to buying inventory—worrying about getting the right styles, enough sizes, or sometimes ending up with too much or too little of something. There’s a lot of guesswork, and I’ve learned that it’s okay not to get it perfect every time.
And then, of course, there’s all the behind-the-scenes business stuff—paperwork, taxes, and things that aren’t nearly as fun as picking out cute dresses. In the beginning, I had to juggle all these roles myself, but over time I’ve been able to start delegating (I just hired an accountant, which feels like a huge win!).
It’s been a wild ride, but every challenge has taught me something new—and I wouldn’t trade the journey to where I am for anything.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Adelyne’s Boutique & Gifts is all about creating a little haven for women to discover something special— whether it’s a cozy new sweater, a sparkling piece of jewelry, or a candle that makes home feel extra welcoming. We’re known for our carefully curated selection of clothing, accessories, gifts, and home fragrances, with new arrivals coming in small batches so there’s always something fresh to explore.
What really sets us apart is the personal touch. We love getting to know our customers, remembering their favorite brands, and helping them find just the right gift or treat for themselves. Our shop isn’t just a place to shop—it’s a place to unwind, catch up with friends, and leave feeling a little brighter than when you walked in.
I’m especially proud of the loyal community we’ve built- around 80% of our customers are regulars, and I think that says a lot about the experience we offer. We also have a fun loyalty program, seasonal promotions, and little perks like free shipping or gifts with purchase to make shopping with us feel extra rewarding.
At the end of the day, Adelyne’s is about celebrating women, supporting our community, and making everyday moments feel a bit more special. Whether you’re shopping for a birthday, a holiday, or just because, we hope you’ll feel right at home here.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Every summer, my whole family gathers at my aunt’s lake house up in Giddings—it’s one of our favorite traditions. One year, I was lucky enough to stay a few extra weeks with my aunt after everyone else had gone home. During that time, one of my absolute favorite childhood memories happened: she took me on a trip to visit the Texas State Capitol Building. We spent the day touring the Capitol, wandering through the halls, and soaking up all the history. Afterward, we explored the city together—trying new foods, popping into little shops, and just enjoying the adventure. That trip made me fall in love with discovering new places and creating special memories with family. It’s an experience I still cherish today.
