Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Sipos.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been practicing yoga since I was 15; I’m now 39. I started teaching yoga, pilates and boot camp at 23, the same year I quit dancing and started bodybuilding which I competed in professionally for 10 years.
Once retiring as a 4x World Champion Bodybuilder, in 2017, I needed to change how I was moving my body due to various intense injuries.
I was introduced to Katonah Yoga in 2020 during an online training during lockdown and I hated it. I didn’t understand what was happening and as a perfectionist, and someone used to being in the flow during yoga practice, striving towards the deepest fullest ranges, I wasn’t intrigued to know more.
Shift to 2021, in more pain than ever, I’m led to attend a Katonah training in Puerto Vallarta with my now mentor Abbie Galvin and from that moment on, I was hooked. I watched her transform a woman who tagged along with a friend to the training, in just 4 days. She was immobile, overweight, and had toes that crumpled on each other and said she hadn’t walked without pain in 20 years.
Each day, Abbie put her in heavily propped up Katonah shapes where she would breathe and sit listening to the lectures. At the end of the 4 days, her toes had started to straighten, the pain in her feet went down dramatically, she had color to her skin whereas before she was pale, she was breathing better and her eyes actually had life in them.
From that moment, I was all in. Which led me to my business, Austin Private Yoga.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not. My skill set lies in the teaching and the doing of the practice, not in being a business owner. You’re not taught how to run a business and market yourself as an entrepreneur and even after almost 2000 hours of training, I’m still figuring that piece out.
We’ve been impressed with Austin Private Yoga , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We offer 1:1 individual private yoga sessions, group events as well as corporate yoga, sound baths, meditation and retreats. We’re offering a retreat in Panama Feb 7-13, 2026 in Bocas del Toro.
There isn’t a lot of representation in wellness and especially yoga, for BIPOC. It can be disheartening but I show up in this space consistently in the hopes to inspire other POC to as well. Sometimes being yourself and showing up in spaces not meant for you, is the revolution.
How do you think about happiness?
Helping other people and seeing them take ownership over their mental and physical health. I especially find joy when a student has an insight from our work together.
