

Today we’d like to introduce you to Simone Rogers.
Hi Simone, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My godmother was the cake lady for our family. While in school getting my master’s, I did event coordination while still working full time, so she and I discussed going into business together with her creating the cakes for the events I would coordinate. When she got sick, I started baking myself utilizing what I had learned from her as well as tips I’d learned from my father, who was the baker and cook for our family throughout my life. I became passionate and interested in the science behind baking and the health benefit of baking from scratch, so I started developing Enamored Queen Cakes & Desserts.
When my godmother passed away, I pursued baking passionately as an ode to my love for her. It became my favorite thing to do, my peace. Not only am I able to utilize the creativity taught to me by my mother who was an art teacher for numerous years, but I’m also able to create delicious desserts that make people happy when celebrating their milestones and special events.
To be enamored means to be filled with a feeling of love for…in love, infatuated; smitten. That is how I feel about family. That is how I feel about creating and baking.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s a tale as old as time – working full time with a family while continuing education was exhausting. It took persistence and dedication to work all day, tend to my family, participate in church activities, study, complete schoolwork, then research to improve recipes and bake with very little sleep. I’m still trying to find my way growing my business to make it my primary profession.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have a keen eye for detail, as most artists do. Although I do not replicate any work, I do have the ability to bring the desires of my customers to life. I love trying a new trend when creating cakes, but my specialties are burnaway cakes, macarons, and wedding cakes. I’m known for my flavors and moist cakes made from scratch, which I believe sets me apart from other homebakers. I am proud to say that I have not met a baking challenge yet that I have not successfully conquered. I love a challenge.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
With my education stemming from the healthcare field, I am able to use parts of my brain intricately when thinking of recipes and designs. Enamored Queen Cakes & Desserts is something that I am beyond proud of, something that makes me smile from my soul. I think it’s important for my two daughters to see that you can accomplish what you set out to and the possibilities are endless with the right mindset.
