Rising Stars: Meet Ashley Piel of Marble Falls

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Piel.

Hi Ashley , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my bakery in 2020, right when the world shut down, and I was at home with a newborn. During that uncertain time, I wanted to focus on something positive and meaningful. Cinnamon rolls had always been my mom’s favorite dessert—she would get so excited anytime we were near a Cinnabon. I wanted to create the perfect cinnamon roll in her honor, something that captured the warmth and love she brought to our family.

I spent weeks experimenting in the kitchen, testing and tweaking recipe after recipe until I finally perfected the ultimate ooey, gooey cinnamon roll. Once I had the base just right, I added her favorite topping and named it after her, The Foxy Roxy. It was a way to honor her, but also to share a little piece of our family story with others.

From there, my bakery evolved. I began creating other toppings inspired by my family and the people closest to me. Each roll is crafted with love and thoughtfulness, reflecting the people who inspire me every day. For me, baking isn’t just about desserts—it’s about connection, tradition, and creating little moments of joy for others, one cinnamon roll at a time.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been smooth? Not at all. There have been plenty of times I thought about quitting. Running a home bakery out in the country comes with its own set of challenges—sometimes nobody shows up at farmers’ markets, sometimes rolls have to be thrown away, and working with cream cheese icing that doesn’t last long adds to the pressure. There are even moments when I question if I’m a “good enough” baker.

But what keeps me going is the moment someone tastes one of my rolls for the first time. Seeing their face light up, hearing them say it’s delicious—no matter how many times I hear it—those are a baker’s favorite words. Those moments make every challenge, every wasted roll, and every long day completely worth it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a home baker, and I specialize in creating cinnamon rolls from scratch with unique toppings inspired by my family. Each roll tells a story—whether it’s honoring my mom, who loved cinnamon rolls, or celebrating the people closest to me. I’m known for putting a lot of thought and love into every batch, making each one feel special and personal.

What I’m most proud of is how my baking can brighten someone’s day. Even as a side baker, the feedback I get—especially seeing someone’s face light up when they taste a roll for the first time—reminds me why I do this. What sets me apart is that my focus isn’t just on the recipe; it’s on creating a little moment of joy, connection, and comfort with every bite.
