Meet Allie Martinez of Martinez Group at Realty Austin Compass

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allie Martinez.

Hi Allie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I moved to Austin for undergrad at UT and it’s been home ever since (almost 20 years!). Even after backpacking for a year around the world, my now-husband and I just knew Austin was where we wanted to be.

In 2017, I was working in tech and realizing that I needed to break out of the 9-5 grind. We owned and had renovated a house in East Austin, and my husband lovingly pointed out that I was the only person he’d ever met who enjoyed reading zoning documents and proposals in their spare time. I thought through a career change to real estate, and decided it would work if I approached it with authenticity and a commitment to excellence, and was trustworthy above all else. Within a few months, I had my real estate license and left the security of my day job behind.

The next few years were a blur of ramping up the business, having two babies, and navigating the COVID pandemic (and wild real estate market that unexpectedly accompanied it!). There were so many midnight working sessions for multiple offer deadlines, lines around the block for a single showing, and wonderful client relationships forged through that intense time.

Fast forward another few years and the team has now grown in a really organic way with wonderful people. The trust I have in them is not something I take for granted (as a very type A person with high standards) – they are truly the best of the best. We are all aligned on the importance of a low-stress, smooth, and inclusive experience, and are very focused on data-driven work. When we work with a client, we provide incredibly detailed market analyses for every property prior to an offer (or listing) – this is something that I think differentiates us in the market; we can talk through the numbers all day, and have specific justification for every dollar adjustment we make in each analysis.

These days, I mainly work through word-of-mouth referrals, and it’s the highest praise to have past clients introduce me to their friends and communities. Now, we’re navigating the ever-changing real estate and technology markets, and trying to give back to our community in all the ways we can.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest struggle period for me (and so many others) was 2020. My husband and I had an 18-month old without outside childcare, the real estate market went absolutely wild, we were passing our son back and forth between meetings, and I can’t even pretend to know how many hours per week I was working for those ~9 months after COVID hit. Great stories to tell now, but a hard pass on living through it again.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
As a team of Realtors, we work with both homebuyers and sellers in the greater Austin area. Our goal is to make buying and selling as low-stress as possible, while still delivering sharp guidance, strong results, and a smooth experience every step of the way. We also aim to be inclusive of all people and price points, and thoughtful about the emotions that are inevitably tied to a move.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the culture of Austin – it’s truly a gem when I compare it to all of the other places I’ve visited or lived. People are active, an abundance of dogs and kids means the energy is high when you’re out and about, and the food scene is unmatched. I don’t make it to many shows and concerts these days with two young kids at home, but I can’t wait to get back to that in a few years, too.

On the downside, not to be redundant with most other Austinites, but the traffic on I-35 leaves something to be desired.

  • With no pressure and no cost, we would love to meet you and talk about your real estate goals, whether you want to accomplish them in 2026 or years out. As the planning type myself, I really value understanding the process and the landscape before jumping into something, so I’m happy to extend that service to others in the same boat who are considering buying or selling real estate in the near or far future.
