Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Deichmann.
Hi Katherine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born into the horse world. I grew up a horse trainer’s daughter and granddaughter to veterinarians; I was beyond privileged to grow up devoting my life and education to animals, horses specifically. Working with students and horses every day is not only my passion but also a childhood dream I am lucky enough to have pursued. Sunny Fox Farms was started in 2020 after 15years of working under some other great horseman and a young adulthood of hard work to create a business all my own. We have had a couple locations and are now permanently in San Marcos with a wonderful group of students and horses. Teaching all ages about the magic of horses and how to understand and fit them in your life is my biggest passion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been smooth. Starting Sunny Fox was an huge leap after working for family since 2005. SFF’s first facility had a lot of unnecessary issues and struggles from the property owner. We had to move 6months in, with a rush to a place that needed a LOT of fixing up. With the team I had/have behind me anything is possible and we have overcame every obstacle that’s been thrown at us! All with a smile and gratitude
We’ve been impressed with Sunny Fox Farms , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sunny Fox Farms is an Equestrian Facility that offers Equestrian Training for Hunter Jumper Horse Riding lessons. We are also a premiere Horse Boarding Stable and offer Horseback Riding Services in Hays County, Texas. Our facility is off Ranch Road 12 between San Marcos, Texas, and Wimberley, Texas.
Katherine is the owner of Sunny Fox Farms, a USHJA Credential Instructor, Head Trainer, and has over 30+ years of horse experience. Jordan is our Assistant Trainer with over 20 years of horse experience. Our goal is to share our love of Equestrian and Horseback Riding with you! Hopefully, you find a similar passion for horses or the equestrian sport. All our trainers remember riding horses as some of their first childhood memories.
We are also home of the Texas State Equestrian Team. Katherine is Head Coach
-All Trainers are Safe Sport and Concussion Awareness Certified.
-Horsemanship, care, and the function of proper equitation.
-Hunter/jumper and the importance of flatwork to create a strong and confident horse and rider over fences, inside and out of the arena.
