We recently had the chance to connect with Nina Chau and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nina, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I think many people are secretly struggling with feeling like they’re not enough—especially in a world that constantly measures success by numbers, appearances, and timelines. We celebrate wins publicly but carry our doubts privately. I’ve seen business owners, parents, and leaders who appear confident on the outside while silently battling burnout, fear of failure, or the weight of past trauma that were never solved or dealt with.
From my own journey, while working at sixteen with no stable home, losing my mother to cancer, and building a business from scratch. I’ve learned that almost everyone is fighting for something behind closed doors. People seek for connection, understanding, and the reassurance that they’re not alone in the struggle so that they are able to keep moving forward.
At Precious Gems Marketing, I try to lead with that awareness. I remind my clients and my team that vulnerability doesn’t weaken you, it builds authenticity, and authenticity builds trust. It’s a reminder that healing takes time. Allow yourself to be sad, to cry, to process—but when the moment passes, lift your head, shake it off, and become who you you’re called to be.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Nina Chau, founder of Precious Gems Marketing, a Texas-based digital creative agency built on resilience, authenticity, and innovation. My journey started at sixteen, when I was working at Bill Miller’s with no stable home or car—just a determination to create a better life. Through perseverance, I transformed those humble beginnings into a thriving business that helps brands scale with purpose and strategy.
At Precious Gems Marketing, we specialize in combining authentic storytelling with AI-driven automation and digital integration, helping businesses of all sizes, from small local shops to high-tier clients grow efficiently while staying true to their values. What makes our brand unique is how every campaign we create is designed to connect deeply, inspire trust, and drive real results.
After losing my mother to Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) in 2022, I found a new sense of purpose in using my work to empower others, give back to the community, and remind people that even through hardship, they can still succeed. Today, my children and my mother’s memory remain my greatest motivation as I continue to grow Precious Gems Marketing and help others turn adversity into purpose. My goal is to scale Precious Gems Marketing into a brand that not only delivers results but also serves as a foundation for others to grow from. I want my journey in entrepreneurship to be proof that anything is possible with discipline, focus, and perseverance. I’m committed to becoming one of the best in my industry, leading with integrity, creativity, and innovation. Through AI-driven strategies, authentic storytelling, and a heart for community, I strive to help every business I work with find success, purpose, and confidence in their brand. At Precious Gems Marketing, it’s not just about marketing, it’s about building legacies, inspiring others, and showing that even the hardest beginnings can lead to the brightest futures.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was a dreamer with quiet strength, a young girl who believed that kindness, creativity, and hard work could change her story. I didn’t have stability, money, or opportunity, but I had faith, grit, and something in me that refused to give up.
I was the girl who was told ‘no’ because I didn’t have enough experience, that I looked too young, that others should pity me, that I wasn’t hungry enough, I didn’t know it then, but those moments were shaping the woman I’d become—the leader, the mother, the visionary behind Precious Gems Marketing.
Before the world told me who to be, I was doubtful, hopeless, and unworthy. And now, I’ve come full circle—I am now a woman who’s not afraid of rejection and doubt, I am confident on who I’ve become in building a business that lets others rediscover that same truth: that their light was never lost, just not pushed enough to their fullest potential.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, I’d tell her: “You’re going to make it, even when it doesn’t feel like it. The pain you feel now is shaping the strength you’ll one day use to help yourself, your children and others.”
I’d remind her that the nights she cried, the days she worked with no clear path—all of it was building the foundation for the woman she was called to become. One day, she’ll turn that struggle into purpose, lead with heart, and build something strong out of everything she thought would break her.
I’d tell her to keep her faith, stay kind, and never stop believing that she was meant to be SOMEONE.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
An important truth I hold—one that not everyone agrees with—is that I can be both compassionate and conservative. Somewhere along the way, politics became so divided that people stopped listening to one another. I believe that strength, faith, and personal responsibility can coexist with empathy, fairness, and love for others.
To me, being conservative isn’t about separation or judgment, it’s about values, accountability, and protecting the freedom to build, create, and believe and what it looks like raising my kids in this current society. My experiences taught me that leadership requires both heart and discipline. I’ve lived through hardship, and I know that people need opportunity and support, not dependency or division.
So while many see politics as a line in the sand, I see it as a challenge to bridge understanding. I believe in standing firm in your values while still seeing the humanity in everyone. That’s where real change begins.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had 10 years left, I’d stop holding on to trust issues and fear. For so long, life taught me to protect myself, to expect disappointment, to keep walls up so I wouldn’t get hurt again. But those same walls also kept me out of love, peace, and opportunity.
I’d stop replaying the moments that broke me and start allowing people in, even if it means risking pain. I’d choose forgiveness over control, openness over doubt, that trusting others doesn’t make you weak.
I’ve learned that when you carry the past too tightly, it weighs down your future. So if I only had 10 years left, I’d spend every day letting go of fear, resentment, and hesitation, and pour that space into love, purpose, and connection. Because peace doesn’t come from protecting yourself; it comes from releasing what no longer serves you.
