Today we’d like to introduce you to Amer Al Alwani.
Hi Amer, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story really began in 2016, when I received the greatest gift of my life — my daughter. Shortly after she was born, she was diagnosed with autism and required constant, around-the-clock care. It was a challenging time for both me and her mother. Our work schedules no longer made sense, and leaving her—even for a moment—was not an option.
That chapter forced me to rethink everything. I needed work that offered flexibility, stability, and purpose — something I was truly skilled at. With a diploma in civil engineering, a lifelong love for building and hands-on problem-solving, and a personality wired for detail and perfection, the path became clear.
A Foundation Built on Passion and Skill
Civil Engineering background
Grew up fascinated by how things are built and how structures come together
Perfectionist by nature — details matter to me
10 years of experience at Dell Technologies, developing discipline and customer-focused work habits
How the Business Started
I began with small projects — exterior work, retaining walls, building flower beds, installing lighting systems. From there, the business grew naturally. Word of mouth spread, and our team expanded to include fencing, siding, and ultimately, full roofing services.
Over the years, we’ve serviced over 600 homes and built a reputation for quality and genuine customer care.
Staying True to Who We Are
At one point, we partnered with third-party service providers to reach a wider client base. But we quickly realized that approach didn’t fit who we are. It lacked the customization, communication, and personal relationships we value.
As a small, customer-centric business, we believe every project deserves attention, transparency, and craftsmanship — and we decided to stay true to that, even if it meant growing at our own pace.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest challenges we faced as a small business came during COVID. With property values dropping and financial uncertainty rising, many homeowners struggled to invest in repairs or renovations. As a result, BlueBonnet experienced a major slowdown, forcing us to adapt, stay resilient, and find new ways to support our customers during a difficult time.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
