Today we’d like to introduce you to Jarred Curcio.
Hi Jarred, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Jarred Curcio, J.D., CPT, is an Entrepreneur, Bodybuilding Champion, Personal Trainer, Performance Coach, Relationship Specialist, Sales Expert, and Podcaster.
At the age of 19, Jarred Curcio stood at 5’8” and weighed nearly 300 lbs. He was extremely obese and had no plans for his future.
However, by his 21st birthday, he was crowned the USBF New Jersey Natural Bodybuilding Champion, competing at 175 lbs.
Twenty years later, at the age of 37, Jarred has a six-pack, squats 550 lbs, and can deadlift 600 lbs. As he would put it “All natty, bro!”.
Physical fitness has been a huge part of his life since his weight loss journey, and he can honestly say he has never missed a workout in that time.
Jarred has taken the principles he learned in the gym—discipline, consistency, resilience, and doing the hard things even when he doesn’t want to—and applied them to everything he’s ever done, including his career and relationships. This has led to tremendous success in literally every area of his life.
He graduated summa cum laude from college and completed Penn State Law School toward the top of his class before passing the New Jersey Bar Exam.
Jarred is married to his high school sweetheart of 20 years, who also had a weight loss journey of her own at the same time. Their relationship could not be stronger
Jarred had a monumentally rewarding career in corporate tech sales leadership since 2013. This has allowed him to fund several side businesses and make a handful of fruitful real estate investments.
While his corporate career offered immense financial success, he found himself unfulfilled and craving more meaningful work. After 11 years, he left his sales career to follow his passion and launch TRUE Fitness & Focus. His purpose is to teach committed individuals how to master their bodies and minds so they can reach their true potential and become the person they were always meant to be.
Jarred believes that discipline offers the greatest freedom possible as it instills a sense of agency in an individual. He has developed a system for building habits and cultivating discipline that includes physical workouts but goes far beyond that. His system includes mindfulness practices and stoic habits like meditation. It also offers a method to help people identify their purpose with more clarity and build an action plan to attain their goals.
Most recently, Jarred invested in and partnered with The Pershing, an exclusive private members club in East Austin, to co-create The Focus Room – a bespoke high-performance gym and self-mastery space built for fitness, discipline, transformation, and excellence.
When not working out or coaching clients, Jarred loves to spend time in nature with his beautiful wife Katelyn. They also both enjoy visiting the many outstanding restaurants that Austin, TX has to offer and attending concerts and stand-up comedy shows.
Jarred hosts a monthly Jeffersonian dinner called “Feast & Fellowship” at The Pershing in East Austin where he leads an intimate discussion on various philosophical topics.
He received his personal training certification from the University of Texas at Austin.
Jarred is the co-host of a weekly podcast with his wife called –
“Genius at Work with Jarred and Katelyn Curcio.”
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not. It has not been a smooth road. My story might look clean from the outside, but the reality is that my life has been one long invitation to lean into discomfort. My entire transformation began with struggle. At 19 I was nearly 300 pounds, depressed, lost, and unsure what my future even looked like. I had no direction and no identity beyond the weight I was carrying. Deciding to change required facing parts of myself I had been avoiding for years, and nothing about that process was easy.
The same thing happened in my career. I spent more than a decade in corporate tech sales and became financially successful, but inside I felt completely unfulfilled. For years I wrestled with the fear of walking away from stability and starting over. I did not know exactly what I wanted for a long time, and that uncertainty created a lot of internal friction. But the one thing I never let slip was my commitment to becoming the man I said I wanted to be. That commitment eventually gave me the courage to leave that world behind and build True Fitness and Focus from scratch.
My relationship has its own journey as well. My wife Katelyn and I have been together for more than 21 years. We have lived what feels like five different lives together. We have had high highs and low lows. We have been broke, stressed, overwhelmed, confused, and everything in between. But we always made one choice. We chose growth. We chose honesty. We chose to face our challenges head on. That decision is what ultimately inspired us to build Supernova Couples Coaching and share the lessons that shaped our relationship.
So no, the road has never been smooth. But every challenge reinforced the same lesson. Discomfort is the path. My entire formula for success ends with the fifth principle, which is my willingness to lean into discomfort. I did not get here because life was easy. I paved the road myself through hard work, discipline, massive personal responsibility, and a relentless dedication to self improvement.
If my story looks like it has momentum today, it is only because I spent years doing the hard things when nobody was watching.
As you know, we’re big fans of True Fitness & Focus/ The Focus Room/ Supernova Couple’s Coaching. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
True Fitness and Focus is the core of everything I do. It is where my Muscle Mindset Mission begins and where I work with driven individuals who want to master their bodies and minds. My coaching blends hypertrophy based training, disciplined routines, and a structured system of mindfulness and purpose work that helps people transform their lives from the inside out. It is straightforward, practical, and results focused.
Here in Austin, my biggest project is The Focus Room. It is a high performance training and self mastery space that I co created with The Pershing. The Focus Room is intentionally small, personal, and immersive. It is not a public gym. It is a space designed for one thing. Focus. Every inch of it was built to remove distraction and create an environment where discipline, excellence, and transformation become the default. Clients work with me in a private setting that blends bodybuilding training, mindset coaching, personal development work, and high level accountability. It is the first facility of its kind in Austin and it reflects my deep belief that fitness is only the beginning of a much bigger evolution.
I also run Supernova Couples Synergy Coaching with my wife, Katelyn. Supernova is unlike anything else in the relationship space. It is not therapy, it is not traditional life coaching, and it is not a communication class. It is a complete system built to strengthen a couple’s health, passion, vision, and long term purpose. We teach couples how to build aligned habits, deepen intimacy, create shared rituals, and develop a unified mission for their future. We call it synergy coaching because that is exactly what it creates. Two people who operate as a powerful team instead of two individuals trying to navigate life alone. Supernova grows every year because it delivers real, measurable change that couples can feel in their daily lives.
To tie it all together, my wife and I host a weekly podcast called Genius at Work. It follows our entrepreneurial journey, our personal growth, our mistakes, our wins, and our very real conversations about building businesses, building a marriage, and building a life we are proud of. It is honest, it is raw, and it is the closest look behind the scenes of everything we are creating in Austin.
I also run a bi-weekly Men’s Meditation Group called “Stoic Sundays” in East Austin. Meditation is the most important excerise I do (I meditate for an hour a day) and this is my way of sharing one of the most profound tools I use with the community.
What sets all of my brands apart is simple. Discipline, presence, and a deep commitment to helping people step into their highest potential. Whether I am coaching an individual in the Focus Room, working with a couple through Supernova, or sharing our story on the podcast, my mission is always the same. Help people become stronger, more self led, more intentional, and more aligned with the life they truly want.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
The quality that has contributed most to my success is without question my discipline. Most people think discipline simply means working hard, grinding, or pushing yourself, but that is only the surface. Hard work alone does not make someone disciplined. In some cases, it becomes a way to hide from the real work.
To me, discipline means aligning your actions with the man you ultimately want to be. It means living by your principles instead of living by what is convenient, easy, or what feels practical in the moment. Discipline is integrity in action. It is holding yourself to a standard even when nobody is watching.
I built that discipline in the gym when I lost more than 120 pounds and became a natural bodybuilding champion. That experience taught me how to create a vision, commit to it fully, and follow through every single day regardless of how I felt. I took that exact formula and applied it to every other area of my life. My career, my relationship, my mindset, my purpose. Every win I have today traces back to discipline.
The approach I use and teach now is a five step formula for success.
1) Create a clear plan.
2) Execute the plan with presence and intention.
3) Stay consistent long enough for the results to compound.
4) Use accountability and mentorship to accelerate growth.
5) Lean into discomfort and choose the harder path when it matters most.
Those five steps changed my life, and they are the backbone of everything I do. Discipline is the reason I am who I am today.
