Daily Inspiration: Meet Tiffany Garcia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Garcia.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Dr. Tiffany Garcia. I am a doctor in Clinical Nutrition and Functional Medicine.
I was involved in sports my whole life and my interest in nutrition began in high school. After high school sports, I grew an interest in weightlifting. I aways knew I wanted to be in the health and wellness field but I wasn’t sure what avenue to take for my professional career. I graduated with an undergrad in Exercise Science and Human Biology and worked as a personal trainer and an Exercise Specialist in a cardiac rehabilitation center. After working with clients and patients for a couple years, I decided I wanted a more formal education in nutrition to further support my clients/patient. This lead me to earning my Master’s in Clinical Nutrition. Around this time, my nephew was diagnosed with Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy, which drove me to ultimately obtaining my doctorate in Clinical Nutrition and Functional Medicine. I believe there is a gap between holistic treatments and Western Medicine and if we combine the two we can get the best of both worlds. I started working in clinical practice in 2019 helping patients improve their health through diet, exercise, and lifestyle management. I enjoy seeing my patients take back their health, develop confidence in their bodies, and most importantly- THRIVE.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Owning my own practice has had its up and down but I always had consistent clients because of my involvement in the CrossFit Community. However, when I moved to Austin TX, I knew no one and had no connections. It felt like starting my practice from scratch all over again. Although, I still have remote clients all over the US, I am still working on building my clientele here in Austin!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Function Nutrition Practitioner. Functional medicine means looking at all lifestyle factors, diet, exercise, stress, sleep, and environmental toxins that could be negatively impacting our health. I help my patients understand their metabolic health through lab testing and listening to what their body is trying to tell them!

To me, health means living without limitations! I want my patients/clients to be able to run after their grandkids, climb a mountain, or simply just feel more comfortable in their own skin.

I’m most proud when my clients reach their health goals and start feeling like themselves again!

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My previous professor, Kimberly Queen, has been a big part of why I pursued my doctorate degree. She is always been so driven, focus, and passionate about education and health. She not only helped me improve my own health but s
My other mentor would have to be Aron Cavette. He was my first CrossFit coach and one of my biggest motivators to get more involved in the CrossFit community and personal training. He is a wealth of knowledge, whatever question I had he had the answer for it! He also showed me how important it is to build a strong community.
