Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Pierre.
Hi Eric, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in Houston at 6’8″, I was convinced I was headed to the NBA. I dreamed big — Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon — and I trained like it. That dream took me further than most people ever get: I reached the semi-pro level and played for the San Diego Guardians in the ABA.
But eventually I had to face a hard truth: the NBA wasn’t going to be my final stop.
That moment didn’t break me — it redirected me. I realized I didn’t just love basketball… I loved the pursuit of greatness. The discipline. The pressure. The preparation. The mission.
So I chose a new arena: finance and tax strategy. And I approached it the same way — obsessed with fundamentals, relentless about improvement, and committed to winning the right way. What started as a pivot became purpose: helping entrepreneurs and high-net-worth families protect what they build, make smarter moves, and create options for their future.
Today, I run my firm with a simple belief: wealth isn’t just about money — it’s about freedom, stewardship, and legacy. My goal is to be the person behind the scenes helping Austin builders keep more of what they earn, deploy it wisely, and turn success into something that outlives them.
I didn’t make it to the NBA — but I’m still playing for legacy. Different court. Same standard.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing up in Houston at 6’8″, I was convinced the NBA was my future, and I chased that dream all the way to the semi-professional ranks. Letting go of that identity was my first real struggle, but it forced me to ask where else I could apply the same discipline and drive. Starting over in finance meant rebuilding credibility from scratch in a field with no shortcuts and real consequences. That process taught me to value preparation, integrity, and the long game. Today, my work is about helping builders protect what they create and turn success into lasting legacy.
We’ve been impressed with Pierre Tax and Wealth Management dba Pierre Accounting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m the founder and principal of Pierre Tax & Wealth Management, a boutique advisory firm specializing in advanced tax strategy and financial structuring for high-income entrepreneurs, investors, and families. We work primarily with clients who have complex income streams—business exits, large capital gains, multi-entity structures, and significant planning needs that go far beyond traditional tax preparation.
What sets us apart is that we operate year-round and strategy-first. We don’t just report history—we help clients proactively design outcomes. Our work sits at the intersection of tax law, wealth strategy, and real-world execution, which allows us to translate highly technical concepts into practical, defensible plans clients can actually implement with confidence.
We’re known for handling situations where the stakes are high and there’s no margin for error. Clients come to us when the decisions they make today will impact their families, businesses, and legacy for decades. Integrity, precision, and long-term thinking guide everything we do.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that we’ve built a firm rooted in trust and stewardship rather than volume or hype. Our growth has been referral-driven, and our reputation is built on doing the right thing—even when it’s the harder path. At its core, our brand represents clarity, discipline, and helping builders turn financial success into something that lasts.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I’ve learned that the best mentors usually aren’t found by asking someone to “be my mentor.” They emerge naturally when you show up consistently, do good work, and add value without immediately asking for anything in return. The relationships that have mattered most to me started as conversations, not transactions.
What’s worked well for me is focusing on proximity and contribution—putting myself in rooms where people I respect are building real things, listening more than talking, and being useful when I can. Over time, trust compounds, and guidance follows.
I also believe in being intentional about who you learn from. Not everyone who’s successful is aligned with how you want to live or lead. The right mentor is someone whose process, values, and outcomes you admire—not just their title.
At its core, networking is about long-term relationships. If you approach it with humility, consistency, and genuine curiosity, the right connections tend to form organically.
