Meet Maggie Jones of Monument Pilates

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie Jones.

Hi Maggie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got certified and started teaching Pilates in 2013 after dancing professionally in LA and waiting tables. I worked in a Chiropractic and Physical Therapy Office, helping people recover from injuries and improve their physical health overall. It was in 2017 that my husbands job took him to Austin Texas. It was then that I started working with Brooke Bowersock and ALIGN pilates. I helped her run her West Austin location and then helped her open her second, East location. In 2024 I was able to become a Master Educator with Balanced Body and host teacher trainings alongside Brooke. When my husband got laid off in July of 2024 we were trying to figure out our next steps. His job was in operations in a hospitality group and we decided it was time to merge what he was good at with what I was good at. This is how Monument Pilates came to be. With his experience running business I could focus my attention on the Pilates program and our teachers.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
All good things come with challenges. Putting all our eggs in the Pilates basket was a little daunting. I think a lot of the time the challenges involve self doubt. For a long time, teaching was a passion but wasn’t necessarily bringing in a lot of money. But deciding to put our families livelihood in the hands of Pilates was a little scary!

Spreading our time between running studio, teaching classes, teaching teachers training and our young daughter has been a bit of a struggle at times. Luckily for us she enjoys spending time at the studio and we hope to teach her at a young age what hard work and the entrepreneurial spirit can do for you!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Monument Pilates is a family-owned studio founded by a wife and husband team who spent decades working in bars and restaurants. When dreaming up Monument, we intentionally skipped both the loud and dark or bougey and snooty experience to create a warm, lived-in space where you feel immediately welcomed and like a regular.

You can join us for group classes or private and duet sessions, utilizing the Mat, Reformer, Tower, and Chair. We are extremely proud to offer all of the equipment in house and an entire team of teachers (not just fitness instructors) that are fully certified from recognized training programs who are skilled in both classical and contemporary styles. Here you can find the hands-on, attention to detail that you’ve been missing out on.

Joseph Pilates said, “Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.” Or in more modern language “You need to work out if you want to be truly happy.”

We pay homage to that history. We lean hard into the 100+ years of this work being developed and practiced, while also recognizing that some great adaptations have occurred along the way. That dichotomy, that duality of the old and the new, the original and the evolved, the intention and the dream, is what our program is built around. You can do Pilates at many different places, but you can only find this unique expression right here.
