Check Out Emily Doelitsch’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Doelitsch.

Hi Emily, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Spicewood, Texas, and my middle school offered a photography elective taught by a local photographer. I signed up on a whim and immediately fell in love with it. I started bringing my camera everywhere and taking photos of my friends just for fun. When I graduated high school, my parents gifted me an upgraded camera setup, and that was the moment things started to feel real. I decided to officially open Norton & Co. Photography and began by photographing friends’ birthdays and family portraits. What started as a creative outlet quickly grew through word of mouth into something much bigger, and photography turned from a hobby into a business I truly love.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been moving to new towns and having to essentially start over each time. Building a photography business relies so heavily on community and word of mouth, so every move meant rebuilding trust, connections, and a client base from scratch. Another challenge has been learning how to balance the creative side of photography with the business side. Pricing myself confidently, setting boundaries, and learning to value my time took experience and a lot of trial and error. There were seasons where growth felt slow, but those challenges pushed me to become more intentional, resilient, and confident in both my work and my business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a lifestyle and portrait photographer through Norton & Co. Photography, specializing in couples, families, seniors, and small weddings. My work focuses on capturing real moments that feel natural, warm, and timeless rather than overly posed. I am known for creating a comfortable, laid back experience that allows people to be themselves in front of the camera, even if they normally feel awkward or unsure.

What I am most proud of is building genuine connections with my clients and documenting meaningful seasons of their lives, often working with the same families and individuals year after year. What sets me apart is my ability to blend storytelling with simplicity. I focus on emotion, connection, and authenticity, making images that feel honest and personal rather than trendy or forced.

How do you think about happiness?
The name Norton & Co. is deeply personal to me. I am the Norton (my maiden name) and my husband, Coby, is the “Co.” He is my biggest supporter and the person who makes me the happiest. He is always willing to help with whatever I need for a shoot, whether that means carrying gear, scouting locations, or going along with whatever slightly outrageous creative idea I come up with.

What makes me happy is building a life and a business alongside someone who truly believes in me. Having his support gives me the confidence to take creative risks, show up fully for my clients, and keep growing. Norton & Co. is not just a business name, it represents partnership, encouragement, and doing something meaningful together.
