Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Gonzales.
Hi Dan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Dan, and my story begins with indecision in college. I have always found the world interesting, and many areas of study caught my interest. I went through psychology, English, and medical programs, among others, but did not complete any of them.
At the start of the COVID era, I decided it would be a good time to finish a degree online, so I initially pursued a degree in Cyber Security. I was afraid to go into Computer Science because I feared coding. One of my Cyber Security classes included coding, and once I got a taste, I was hooked.
I switched my major to Computer Science and graduated with a bachelor’s degree. But I wasn’t finished. In a YOLO-esque move, I also decided to pursue a master’s degree in Cyber Security, which I completed.
After graduating, I worked as a solutions engineer for a couple of years (and still do). During that time, I noticed that in my town of Bastrop, many companies were promoting web services at extreme rates with questionable quality. I decided to give back by charging realistic rates while delivering quality development, SEO, technical help, and general computer services.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, I know the technical part pretty well, but the business side was a little beyond me. Thankfully, my dear wife Annie helped me with that aspect.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business is built around providing honest, high-quality web and technical services to small businesses and organizations that are often underserved or overcharged. I specialize in custom websites, SEO, and practical technical support, with a strong focus on performance, usability, and long-term sustainability rather than flashy shortcuts or templates that don’t scale.
What sets me apart is my background. By day, I work as a solutions engineer, which means I’m used to solving real business problems, working with technical systems, and communicating clearly with non-technical stakeholders. I bring that same mindset to my freelance work. I don’t just build websites, I help clients understand what they’re getting, why it matters, and how it supports their goals.
I’m known for charging realistic rates while delivering professional-grade work. In my local area, I noticed many businesses paying premium prices for low-quality web services, outdated SEO practices, or poor technical support. My goal has been to raise the bar by offering transparent pricing, clean development, modern SEO, and dependable support without unnecessary upsells.
From a brand perspective, clients know they’re talking to the person actually doing the work. I’m the one designing, building, optimizing, and supporting what I deliver, not a salesperson passing things down a chain.
I want readers to know that my brand is about reliability, clarity, and craftsmanship. Whether it’s a website, SEO strategy, or technical guidance, my focus is always on building solutions that actually work for the client and continue to work well after launch.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I nearly selected the creative category because web development is creative work to me. It blends structure and imagination, and each business has a unique story to communicate online.
