Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Kirk.
Hi Lauren, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Since the beginning of my physical therapy career, I’ve had a special interest in pelvic health, but wasn’t ready to commit to the specialty as a young physical therapist. In 2018, I began refocusing my speciality from orthopedics to pelvic floor physical therapy. Initially, my practice within a traditional physical therapy company consisted of a mix of orthopedics and pelvic health. In 2023, The Mama Clinic was recreated in order to create the optimal experience and treatment for women wanting pelvic and abdominal pain relief, fertility optimization, prenatal care, and postpartum care. The Mama Clinic merges a spa-like experience with highly skilled pelvic health care.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting The Mama Clinic was not always a smooth road. While confident in my clinic expertise, I had little to no business and marketing experience. I had a big learning curve when first starting out in marketing/advertising and business operations. I sought help in both areas from other business owner who were willing to advice, hired business consultants, and focused on community outreach. Luckily, I have enjoyed the process and met many amazing business owners.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Mama Clinic provides pelvic floor physical therapy to optimize fertility health, address pregnancy pain, birth preparation, postpartum recovery, and achieve their exercise goals. We also address abdominal and pelvic pain that is associated with endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), chronic constipation, and low back or hip pain. We typically see complex clients who have tried everything, but continue to have persistent pain. We can aid in fertility optimization by addressing pain with intercourse, abdominal scar tissue from past surgeries, and improve blood flow within the pelvic cavity. At The Mama Clinic, we help women in their postpartum recovery whether they are 4 weeks postpartum or 30 years postpartum. Our goal is for our patients to feel serene and calm when coming to The Mama Clinic. We aim for all to leave more knowledgable about their body and confident in their body’s abilities.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The ability to listening and communication with patients, providers, and others collaborators.
