Life & Work with Elle Becerra of Miami Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elle Becerra.

Hi Elle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have been drawn to event planning for as long as I can remember. From bake sales to school dances and everything in between, I was always the person who loved creating experiences that felt thoughtful, beautiful, and meaningful. Looking back, it is clear that this work was never just an interest for me. It was always a calling, even before I had the language for it.

The idea of turning that passion into a profession was first planted by my father when I coordinated a fundraiser during my senior year of high school. As we were finalizing the details, he told me that I had a natural talent for it and should consider it as a career. At the time, I was preparing for college and thought my future might be in psychology or public relations, with events as something I would simply do on the side.

That changed quickly. During my second year of college, I completed an internship that combined PR and event production. I fell in love with the event side almost immediately and realized that I could build a career around what already felt instinctive to me. I shifted my focus to communication studies and public relations, working throughout college and every summer in a range of event roles. Those years gave me a strong foundation in both creative design and logistical execution.

In my final year, I took a business course that required us to develop a mock business plan. That project became Events by Elle.

Three months after graduating, at 21 years old, I officially launched the company. What began as a small, deeply personal venture has grown into a luxury wedding planning and design business known for refined aesthetics, thoughtful storytelling, and an uncompromising standard of service. Today, Events by Elle produces weddings and celebrations throughout South Florida and beyond, working with clients who value artistry, intention, and an experience that feels both elevated and effortless.

At the heart of everything we do is a genuine love for our clients and the moments they are trusting us to create. I believe that great events are not just beautiful. They are personal, seamless, and deeply felt. I am endlessly grateful to the couples and creative partners who continue to place their confidence in us, and I consider it a privilege to bring their visions to life in a way that feels timeless, curated, and entirely their own.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I do not believe any meaningful success is ever built on a perfectly smooth road. Building a business from the ground up is equal parts exciting and intimidating. It requires more time, discipline, and resilience than most people ever see from the outside. I have been incredibly fortunate to be supported by family, friends, and mentors along the way, which has made even the hardest seasons possible.

One of the greatest challenges for me has been learning how to grow without losing the heart of what makes my work different. Early on, I felt the pressure to follow the traditional models of what a wedding planning business “should” look like. But I knew instinctively that I did not want to replicate what already existed. I wanted to create something more intentional, more elevated, and more personal. Carving that path meant taking risks, trusting my instincts, and sometimes choosing the longer road rather than the easier one.

Another ongoing challenge has been balance. This industry demands late nights, weekends, and a level of emotional investment that does not switch off. As a business owner, there are no true office hours. You are responsible for every detail, every client experience, and every decision. Learning how to manage that intensity while protecting my creativity, my relationships, and myself has been a continuous evolution.

Letting go of control was also a pivotal lesson. For a long time, I believed that no one could care about my clients or my work the way I did. Learning to delegate, to build a team I trust, and to lead rather than carry everything alone was both difficult and transformative. It is what allowed the company to grow into what it is today while maintaining the level of care, refinement, and excellence our clients expect.

Every challenge has ultimately shaped not just how we operate, but who we are as a brand. It taught me that growth does not come from doing more, but from doing what matters most, with intention, clarity, and an unwavering commitment to our clients’ experience.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Events by Elle, we create refined, thoughtfully designed weddings and celebrations for couples who value both beauty and experience. We are a luxury wedding planning and design company based in Miami, producing events throughout South Florida and for destination clients who choose Miami as the setting for their celebration and seek something truly elevated, intentional, and personal.

What we do goes far beyond timelines and logistics. We specialize in full service planning, design, and production, guiding our clients from the earliest creative vision through flawless execution on the wedding weekend. Our work is known for its layered details, cohesive storytelling, and an aesthetic that feels timeless rather than trendy. Every event is tailored, never templated, and built around who our clients are, not just what is visually beautiful.

What I am most proud of is the level of trust our clients place in us. Many of them come to us not just for our design sensibility, but for the experience we provide. We are deeply invested in making the planning process feel calm, organized, and genuinely enjoyable. Our clients often tell us that they felt completely taken care of, and that their wedding weekend felt effortless because every detail had already been taken care of.

What sets Events by Elle apart is our ability to blend elevated design with an uncompromising standard of service. We approach each event with both a creative eye and a producer’s mindset, ensuring that beauty and logistics are equally considered. I am also intentional about doing things differently. Rather than following a traditional or one size fits all model, we curate each client experience, from the way we communicate to how we build teams, select partners, and bring a vision to life.

For destination couples in particular, our role becomes even more meaningful. We act as both creative director and trusted guide, offering local expertise, strong vendor relationships, and a highly personalized approach that allows our clients to plan from anywhere with confidence. Ultimately, we are known for creating events that feel seamless, personal, and beautifully executed, and for delivering an experience that is as exceptional as the celebration itself.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I have learned that meaningful mentorship and networking are built on authenticity, not transactions. The most valuable relationships in my career did not come from asking for something right away, but from showing up consistently, doing excellent work, and being genuinely invested in the people around me.

For me, mentorship has often grown organically. I paid close attention to those whose work I admired, not just creatively, but in how they led, communicated, and treated clients and partners. I asked thoughtful questions, listened more than I spoke, and stayed open to feedback. Over time, those relationships naturally deepened into guidance, support, and mutual respect.

When it comes to networking, quality has always mattered more than quantity. Rather than trying to meet everyone, I focused on building real relationships with a few people whose values aligned with mine. I believe your reputation is your strongest currency. Being reliable, gracious, prepared, and kind will always open more doors than simply exchanging business cards.

What has worked best for me is approaching every interaction with curiosity and generosity. Look for ways to add value before asking for it. Support other creatives, celebrate their work, and treat every collaboration as an opportunity to build something meaningful. The relationships you nurture with intention will often become the ones that shape your career in the most powerful ways.
