Daily Inspiration: Meet Travis Baker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Baker.

Hi Travis, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was first introduced to photography during one of my last elective credits in college, after realizing that another semester of bowling probably wasn’t the best long-term plan. Wanting to build on that foundation, I did what felt like the only logical next step at the time and started photographing bugs in the park.

Not long after, I found myself unhappy in my then, current job and reached out to the founder of Twist Tours, Allison. Through her mentorship and guidance, I was able to grow not only as a photographer, but also in client relations, customer service, and the organizational side of running a business. That combination turned out to be just as important as the creative work.

Over the last 14 years, I’ve continued to refine my craft, leverage experience, and, most importantly, collaborate with clients to make their jobs easier and more successful. Today, Twist Tours serves multiple markets, offers high-quality services at a reasonable price, and continues to introduce new technologies into real estate marketing—all while maintaining a strong focus on reliability, service, and relationships.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s definitely been rewarding, but not perfectly smooth. Timing played a big role early on, especially with Austin’s explosive growth over the last several years. We were fortunate to have systems in place that allowed us to grow alongside the market rather than chase it, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t trip over ourselves a few times along the way. Like most growing businesses, we faced plenty of growing pains: staffing challenges, evolving technology, and constantly shifting marketing preferences from clients.

One of the bigger challenges was building systems that stayed simple and intuitive for clients while still keeping up with fast-changing tech behind the scenes. Client expectations, rightfully, keep getting higher, and that pressure is actually what’s pushed us to innovate, streamline, and adapt. We’ve also learned that growth sometimes means saying “no” to the wrong opportunities so we can say a much stronger “yes” to the right ones. Those struggles helped sharpen our process and ultimately made the business more sustainable, more intentional, and better for everyone involved.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We’re visual media professionals specializing in photography, videography, drone, floor plans, and immersive “4D” tours. At the core, what we do is help properties, and the people behind them, tell a clear, compelling story through rich media.

Two things that I’ve had clients say that have always stuck with me, “I can just give you the address and you handle the rest,” and “I took over this listing, posted your photos, and we had an offer in under 24 hours.” That combination of removing stress from the client while delivering work that actually performs is what we’re most proud of. Seeing a measurable benefit from our work is incredibly rewarding.

What sets us apart is the balance between creative vision and operational discipline. We care deeply about the details that elevate the final product, but we’re just as focused on building systems that make the experience predictable, smooth, and trust-building. We’re always looking for smarter ways to improve results without over complicating things, so clients can focus on their business while we handle the rest.
