Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristin Parr.
Hi Kristin , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been drawn to creating experiences—whether through storytelling, design, or the way a space makes people feel. I began my career in New York City in marketing and branding, working with global luxury companies and media brands. That early exposure to high-level aesthetics, storytelling, and detail-driven environments strongly shaped my design perspective.
After living and working abroad in London and later Bermuda, my career evolved alongside major life transitions. During that time, I founded an event design business, creating immersive environments for weddings, corporate events, and private clients. That experience sharpened my ability to think spatially, emotionally, and logistically—skills that naturally translated into interior design.
When I returned to Austin, I formally launched Anna Gray Designs, named after my two children. What began as a boutique practice quickly grew into a full-service interior design studio working on high-end residential, hospitality, and commercial projects. My work blends strategic planning with refined, livable design, and I’m deeply involved in every phase—from architectural detailing and custom millwork to sourcing, coordination, and final styling.
The path hasn’t been linear, but it’s been intentional. Each chapter has informed how I approach my work today. I believe great design is both elevated and deeply personal, and my goal is to create spaces that feel thoughtful, functional, and enduring—while building a business rooted in clarity, trust, and long-term relationships.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overall, I’ve felt very fortunate that the journey has been largely effortless in the sense that the work has always felt natural to me. Design, problem-solving, and working closely with clients are things I genuinely enjoy, so much of the growth has happened organically.
That said, there have absolutely been learning curves rather than struggles. Growing a business requires constant refinement—learning how to scale responsibly, set boundaries, navigate contracts, manage timelines, and ensure that creativity and operations stay aligned. Each new phase has required me to evolve not just creatively, but strategically.
I view those moments less as obstacles and more as education. They’ve helped me become more confident in my processes, clearer in my communication, and more intentional about the kind of projects and partnerships I take on. In many ways, the learning curves have been what allowed the business to grow with integrity rather than force.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At its core, my work is about creating intentional, highly livable spaces that feel both elevated and personal. I run a full-service interior design studio specializing in high-end residential, hospitality, and select commercial projects. My scope often goes beyond decoration—I’m deeply involved in architectural detailing, custom cabinetry and millwork, finish selections, space planning, and guiding projects from early concept through completion.
I’m known for blending refined aesthetics with real-world functionality. My background in branding and event design allows me to approach spaces holistically—thinking about flow, experience, and how people actually move through and live in a space. Clients often tell me that I bring clarity to complex projects and that I’m able to balance creativity with structure, which is especially important in larger-scale builds and renovations.
What I’m most proud of is building a studio that clients trust completely. Many of my projects come through referrals or repeat clients, which I see as the strongest validation of my work. I’ve also been fortunate to receive industry recognition and press, but the most meaningful success to me is delivering spaces that feel thoughtful, timeless, and deeply aligned with the people who inhabit them.
What sets me apart is my hands-on approach and level of involvement. I don’t disappear after the concept phase—I stay closely engaged through execution, coordination, and final styling. I care just as much about how a space functions day-to-day as how it photographs, and that balance is what I believe creates truly enduring design.
Any big plans?
I’m focused on doing fewer things better. The future of the studio isn’t about scaling for the sake of growth—it’s about being highly selective and continuing to raise the bar on the work itself.
I’m excited to push deeper into projects that demand strong architectural thinking, custom detailing, and real collaboration—homes and spaces that feel bold, intentional, and deeply livable. The goal is to keep evolving creatively while building a studio known for clarity, confidence, and work that doesn’t play it safe.
