Today we’d like to introduce you to Pollethe Ramirez.
Hi Pollethe, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Pollethe Ramirez, founder of Shift Happens Marketing, and I built this business because I was tired of watching small business owners get burned by agencies that overpromised and underdelivered.
I’ve spent years working across both large corporate agencies and small boutique firms, and what I saw frustrated me. Business owners were spending thousands of dollars on marketing that looked impressive in reports but didn’t actually move their revenue. They were sold on vanity metrics, quick fixes, and strategies that weren’t built for their specific business challenges. I started Shift Happens Marketing to do things differently: honest timelines, strategic thinking, and marketing that’s built around what actually drives business growth, not just what looks good on a dashboard.
We’re a women-owned digital marketing agency that helps established businesses break through with SEO, social media strategy, and paid advertising. We don’t chase trends or sell you services you don’t need. We set real expectations from day one, like telling you SEO takes time, not promising overnight results. We think like business owners first and marketers second, which means we’re solving revenue problems, not just running campaigns. Our clients stay with us because we become actual partners in their growth, not vendors trying to upsell them every quarter.
What I’m most proud of is building a business on referrals and results. We’ve helped healthcare providers grow organic traffic by 782%, real estate agents dominate social media, and service-based businesses finally get predictable lead generation. But beyond the numbers, I’m proud that our clients trust us enough to refer their colleagues and friends. That’s the real measure of doing right by people.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? Absolutely not. And honestly, I wouldn’t want it to be because every challenge has taught me something that made the business stronger.
One of the biggest ongoing struggles is building systems that let us scale. I’ve had to constantly evolve our internal processes, and just when I think we’ve figured it out, we grow again and I’m back to the drawing board. It’s a good problem to have, but it’s still a problem. Learning to systematize our internal processes. That’s been the constant challenge.
The other struggle has been resisting the pressure to be everything to everyone. When you’re building a business, there’s this temptation to say yes to every opportunity, every client, every service request because revenue and growth feel urgent. But I learned early on, it’s not always the best thing to do. I laugh now because I KNEW this and had experienced it while I was working in corporate.
Now, our internal systems are built around serving our ideal clients, not trying to be a one-stop-shop for everyone. That clarity has made everything easier, but getting there? That was the struggle. And it’s ongoing because as the business evolves, so do our systems, our processes, and what “exceptional service” actually looks like.
We’ve been impressed with Shift Happens Marketing, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Shift Happens Marketing is a digital marketing agency that specializes in SEO, social media marketing and management, and paid advertising, but here’s what really matters: we help established businesses show up where people actually search today. That means Google, yes, but also AI platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and emerging search tools that are changing how customers find businesses.
We’re not interested in chasing every marketing trend or selling you services you don’t need. We focus on what drives real, measurable growth: organic visibility, strategic content, and advertising that actually converts. Our clients are serious business owners who refuse to settle for mediocre results. They value strategy over shortcuts, and they understand that sustainable growth takes both expertise and time.
What sets us apart is simple: we don’t operate on autopilot. Too many agencies use the same template for every client, same content calendar, same ad strategy, same reporting dashboard. Regardless of whether you’re a healthcare provider, a real estate agent, or an e-commerce brand. That’s lazy. We analyze each client’s unique business model, audience, competitors, and goals, then build custom systems designed specifically for them. What works for one business won’t work for another, and we refuse to pretend otherwise.
But what I’m genuinely most proud of isn’t our strategies or our results, it’s the partnerships we’ve built with our clients and our incredibly low turnover rate. When clients stay with us year after year and refer their colleagues and friends, that tells me we’re doing something right. We get to be part of their growth journey, watch their businesses transform, and celebrate wins alongside them. That’s what makes this work meaningful. We’re not just a marketing vendor they hired, we’re a trusted partner invested in their success.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best:
Austin has evolved so much, it feels like a completely new city compared to when I was in high school. After living in Miami and traveling between both places, I’ve grown to enjoyed Austin’s energy, creativity, and food spots. It feels familiar, but also full of new layers I’m excited to rediscover.
What I like least:
This is more of a Texas thing. But everything closes so early! Texas will always be home, I just wish it stayed up a lot longer.
