My name is Cortez Jones, but most people know me as Chop Shop Connie. I’m a Philadelphia native, and my journey as an entrepreneur has been shaped by resilience, collaboration, and a deep respect for community. My middle name is Constance, which reflects who I am—consistent, dependable, and committed to growth.
The name Chop Shop Connie came naturally after I began working alongside two amazing barbers who played a major role in my development within the industry. Working with them sharpened my skills and showed me the importance of teamwork, mentorship, and respecting the culture of the craft. The brand represents more than a business—it represents shared knowledge, collaboration, and growth.
Through Chop Shop Connie, I’ve built a brand rooted in professionalism, trust, and creating a welcoming environment where people feel comfortable and confident. My work goes beyond providing a service; it’s about building relationships and leaving a positive impact.
Giving back to the community is very important to me. I’m passionate about mentoring youth and aspiring entrepreneurs, especially those who may not always see clear opportunities for themselves. I believe in using my experience to show others that with discipline, consistency, and guidance, skills can be turned into sustainable careers.
Looking ahead, my vision is to continue growing Chop Shop Connie into more than a brand. I want it to become a platform for education, mentorship, and economic empowerment. Staying connected to my roots while reaching back to uplift others is a priority for me, because true success is about bringing the community with you.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been smooth, but thats where are the lessons are. Trial & error are what make us who grow to be.

What matters most to you? Why?
Building generational wealth for my son. Its important that he knows that his talents are what makes him special and that they will take him far.
