Today we’d like to introduce you to Timothy Ferch.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Retired from the Army and my wife ending her job on Ft Hood, we talked one night and decided to look into selling Thai food. Further discussion revealed running a food truck would be fun so in the same conversation we started to look for a suitable truck. We talked about a name and though about a play on the Thai language, Thai for Thai and Law for Wheel. Couple weeks later we visited Austin, TX to settle on a truck. When in arrive in Killeen, TX, we cleaned it up and began.
Jirapha, my wife, began exploring with dishes she knew from her country and I began trying to figure out the administration portion of the business. Together, about 1% was known about how to run Thai Law. We began serving what knew and how we thought it should all start. Other food trucks lent their knowledge on their perspectives and we started growing. Slowly, we became an actual entity. A great fiend and fellow retiree coached both of us on our offerings and speed. Soon, we were operating as an actual business. Pink was chosen.
Slowly is our key. Selling in front of a Brewery for the fist few months to Selling at a food park to selling across from a Taco Bell at 4219 S Clear Creek Road, Killeen, TX 76549, Three years later we are now who we are.
I will pass on whatever I can to anyone wishing to begin something like this. One thing at this time, take nothing at face value, listen then find out for yourself, Every week you learn something new.
We began with three main dishes and now have more that 26 main dishes, side dishes, and drinks. We began serving from our window and growing to add three online platforms and catering. Honesty and integrity has kept our customers returning. Struggling through the heat and cold, wind and dry we kept open to serve all those who desired authentic Thai food. Authentic has, and will always be our brightest thread. When this is stood by, you will only gain. Give in to authentic and you will be like everyone else. Being authentic also keeps things simple, everything as it should be, no variances to remember.
The past years have welcomed us to over 80 events and countless customers. God has graced us with our current success. Now we have receded to our static location as the abroad attendances have take a toll on the two of us. Thai Law is a name we have grown to love and it is a dedication to who we are and were this all comes form.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been fraught with many struggles as I presume all businesses have. Our success is die to doing nothing hastily and without thinking about it for a while prior. The hardest struggle with something like food service is no matter the yearning, add to the menu after considering many things. Another struggle to overcome is try to gauge your level of service and whether or not your output needs elevation.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Thai food is an Asian cuisine very particular to the land of Thailand. It has important origins and important reasons it exists. This is likely in most types of cuisines. Authenticity is no laughing matter. Thai food, at its roots, is a proud brand, tasty as well. When you want to eat well, in Thailand, you don’t get multiple dishes, you get one to suffice your craving. Tie you your hunger over with an authentic drink or compliment your dish whit a delicious side. Thai Law provides great tasting Thai food and extremely personal service, no automation and always fresh.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I, Timothy, want anyone to contact me if you have any concerns about oping your business as I can provide so much knowledge and experience which may rival traditional advice. My wife and I knew nothing when we first began and now know many things to be successful.
