Today we’d like to introduce you to Mazzi Peled.
Mazzi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Latika started from a simple place: I wanted self-care products that actually worked and felt good to use- not just products that sounded good on paper. I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of thoughtful design and traditional apothecary, so I began formulating for myself, focusing on clean ingredients and that sensory, grounding experience you get from a real daily ritual.
It grew quietly at first, mostly through word of mouth, as people connected with what we were making. What began as small-batch experimentation eventually evolved into a full collection of bath, body, and skincare- all formulated, made, and shipped from our own facility in Texas.
Today, we do everything in-house, which gives us complete control over quality and transparency. Latika is built around craftsmanship and calm confidence: products that feel elevated and considered, but never precious. We make things we’d actually want to use, and we’re proud to stand behind every step of the process.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges early on was realizing how much time and precision it takes to make products in-house at a high level. Formulating, producing, and shipping everything ourselves meant learning through trial and error and a lot of problem-solving, especially as demand grew faster than our systems could keep up.
There were periods where growth outpaced infrastructure, and I had to pause and rebuild processes rather than push forward quickly. That meant investing in equipment, space, and people earlier than planned, and saying no to opportunities that didn’t align with where the business actually was. Those moments were uncomfortable, but they clarified what Latika needed to be. The challenges forced a long-term mindset and ultimately shaped the brand into something more intentional, resilient, and sustainable.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Latika is a luxury self-care brand focused on bath, body, and skincare, emphasizing sensory experience, craftsmanship, and transparency. Every product is designed, formulated, and produced in-house in Texas, which gives us full control over quality and allows us to be deeply involved in every detail, from ingredients to packaging to fulfillment.
We’re known for products that feel elevated but practical, formulas that are clean without relying on trends or buzzwords, and an aesthetic that balances modern design with traditional apothecary roots. Rather than chasing constant launches, we focus on creating intentional collections that integrate seamlessly into daily routines and actually get used.
What sets Latika apart is the way we operate. We don’t outsource production or distance ourselves from the process. The brand is built around doing the work ourselves and doing it well. Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built; customers know exactly where their products come from, how they’re made, and why each one exists. I want readers to understand that Latika isn’t about excess or aspiration for its own sake. It’s about thoughtful self-care that feels grounded, considered, and genuinely useful.
What were you like growing up?
I was a very creative kid and was almost always in the middle of making something. I loved painting and sculpting, but I was especially drawn to my mother’s workroom, where I would play “lab,” mixing oils, experimenting with soaps, and making things like candles and lip balms. I was fascinated by ingredients and the idea of transformation, turning raw materials into something functional and beautiful.
Looking back, the signs were definitely there. That curiosity and hands-on experimentation stayed with me, even if it wasn’t always front and center. It took going through my own journey and rediscovering that passion as an adult to recognize it as something I could build a business around. Latika really came from reconnecting with that part of myself, the joy of creating with intention, care, and curiosity, just in a more refined and purposeful way.
