Today we’d like to introduce you to Chenshu Lu.
Hi Chenshu, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started Little Sprouts Play Land to create a welcoming place for families from all backgrounds—especially those who are new to town and searching for connection, familiarity, and a sense of community. I wanted a space where kids could simply have fun, and parents could easily meet others and feel at home.
What began as a play space for children has grown into a community hub. Over time, it’s become a place where families share information, build connections, and support one another as they put down roots.
Today, I’m grateful that Little Sprouts is not just a place to play, but a place that helps bring families together — and that has always been the heart behind it.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all — it hasn’t been a smooth road. I opened Little Sprouts right before COVID hit, and along the way I’ve also faced the ongoing challenges of maintaining an older building while adapting to constant change. What made everything easier was the support from our customers — their patience, encouragement, and trust turned difficult moments into reminders that this space truly mattered to the community.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Little Sprouts Play Land is a place where kids come to play and parents instantly feel welcome. We offer open play, birthday parties, and special events, but at its heart, it’s a space built for families to relax, connect, and feel at home.
What makes us different is the feeling. We’re intentional about keeping the space clean, calm, and friendly, and about greeting every family like they belong here. Over time, Little Sprouts has naturally become a go-to spot for new families and long-time locals to meet, swap information, and build friendships.
What I’m most proud of is the trust families have in us. People come back not just for the play, but for the sense of community. I want readers to know that Little Sprouts isn’t just a playground — it’s a place where families grow connections, one visit at a time.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Start before you feel ready. You don’t need everything figured out to begin, and waiting for perfect can keep you stuck. Feeling unsure is part of the process, not a sign you’re failing.
Pay close attention to the people you’re serving — they’ll show you what’s working and what needs to change. Some of the best decisions I made came from listening, adjusting, and staying flexible. Most importantly, be kind to yourself. Building something meaningful takes time, and consistency matters more than speed.
