Hi Duke , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My father is a general contractor and builder.. and his father before him.
I am a third generation gemeral contractor and builder.
I started at a very young age, learning the building process from A-Z. I worked at many of the trades involved in the home building process.
At the age of 30, I started managing projects for our family company based in Buena Vista Colorado under the mentorship of my father.
At the age of 35 I took over full operations of the company.
Since then I have taken both CraftHaus Custom Homes in Texas and VanDeel Construction in Colorado from average construction companies to luxury builders.
Currently we build 4-6 houses per year in both Texas and Colorado. With hands on approach and dedication to true quality not just luxury finishes. We build with true structural integrity, self sustainability and options no one else in Hill Country offers.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like every business it has not always been easy. From battling through Covid and the supply chain and labor issues involved in that, to economic booms and busts we have always maintained our commitment to our clients and integrity in how we do business to carry us through adversity.
We’ve been impressed with CraftHaus Custom Homes, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a premier home builder. We work with our architects to create homes that are truly one of a kind. From the structural engineering to the fit and finish, we create estates that will be generational.
We implement building strategies that span from cold weather climates to warm weather climates. In Texas we ensure that you home will be properly prepared for any situation. We design our homes with engineered wall and roof systems, no plumbing in exterior walls, frost proof exterior water supplies whole home LP backup generators and gas appliances to keep your home self sustainable, safe and functional in any circumstance.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Today and into the future we look forward to serving our communities, and becoming the premier trusted home builder for Texas hill county.
