Life & Work with Kevina Daniel of Austin and surrounding areas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevina Daniel.

Hi Kevina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was in Physical Therapy School, we had a Special Topics class. It basically went over different specialized areas within Physical Therapy that we might pursue at some point. One day, we talked about Pelvic Floor PT and that one lesson changed the course of my life. I just knew I was going to be a Sports PT. That was my background and training, but the pelvic floor stole my heart.
As we were discussing why someone might need PT for their pelvic floor, my mind drifted back to when I was in middle school and would go to my grandmother’s home after school. I remember her “running” to the bathroom sometimes and seeing Depends products, a lot of them! And I had a moment where I realized, she needed pelvic floor PT. And who wouldn’t after 5 kids and life. I also made the connection that as someone with 3 degrees and a pretty broad understanding of the human body, I had little to no knowledge regarding the pelvic floor, so I knew a lot of my peers and community probably didn’t know either. So, I felt called to fill that gap.
Once I graduated, passed my boards, and started working, I set out to take courses and learn as much as possible about the Pelvic Floor and what I could do to treat it. Now, I’ve worked with hundreds of people, assisting them with a host of issues, from urinary incontinence and pelvic pain syndromes for men, women, and children.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a business is always challenging and entering the health space can be even more so. The decision to no take insurance was a big one for me. So, balancing cost of care for the population I want to serve and the cost of living for myself and my family has been a point of tension. But I was able to work with some organizations to help bridge the gap.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a Physical Therapist, I specialize in the treatment of the pelvic floor. Similar to other areas of the body, when they hurt or have some type of dysfunction, I step in to help promote healing, strength, mobility, and function. So, I like to say I’m the Pee, Poop, and Sex lady! So, if you’re having issues in those areas such as urinary incontinence, constipation, painful sex, or preparing for childbirth, I’m who you need to see! I’m most proud to get to work with individuals who truly thought their conditions were permanent and after a few sessions, they’re feeling better than ever! For me, what I think sets me apart is my desire to truly heal my clients and not just do temporary fixes. I want our time to together change your life for the better. So, whether that’s teaching you how to perform techniques so that you can become independent with your management or having enriching conversations or being the shoulder to cry on that day.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
