Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Griego.
Hi Amy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey began as a single Mom going back to school and starting a new life of wellness personally and professionally.
I received my masters in counseling psychology, and very soon started my private practice specializing in trauma and anxiety.
As my son grew and started struggling with the limitations of public school I realized I needed to expand to serve children and find a way to make their emotional education a priority along with academics. With the support and expertise of my wonderful partner Nick Odom we launched TFT clubhouse a therapeutic learning center here in Taylor, Texas.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh, it has been a very bumpy road. With funding everything on my own and having to wear multiple hats it has not been easy. However it has shown me what I am capable of. Whether it’s managing my social media pages building curriculum, attending community events and finding out what families need most has not been easy, but knowing that the person making the decisions is the one who cares the most I believe is part of our success.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and a trauma informed RYT 200 Yoga Teacher. I am an EMDR therapist and a somatic apprentice. I have learned that we have to have whole mind and body wellness. I work with individuals for trauma healing, and I provide a safe space for kiddos who need an alternative environment for learning whether they are managing anxiety or are neurodivergent. I believe every child is a blessing and given the right environment can thrive.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me means that we can provide and invest in ourselves and at the same time wake up each morning, hopeful and loving what we do.
