Today we’d like to introduce you to Jorge Garcia.
Hi Jorge , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After graduating from high school in Crookston, Minnesota, Jorge Garcia packed for a future that was supposed to begin in Fargo, North Dakota. College awaited. A plan was in place. A flight path had been set.
But the trip had a layover in Austin, Texas.
He never made it to Fargo.
Somewhere between the airport, the heat, the music, and the rhythm of a city that felt strangely like home, the plan quietly dissolved. Austin wasn’t part of the itinerary — but it became the destination.
And then there were the blue eyes.
A blonde with a smile that anchored him to the place even more than the city itself. With her, Jorge built something far more meaningful than the degree he had planned to pursue. Together they raised three beautiful children and built a life that no guidance counselor, college brochure, or carefully mapped plan could have predicted.
What began as a detour became the story.
Austin didn’t just give Jorge a home. It gave him a calling.
Over the years, his career never followed a straight line — it followed people. He started a cattle ranch, opened a furniture store, built Curra’s Grill into a local favorite, and now pours his energy into ATX Tequila. On paper, the businesses seem unrelated. In reality, they are chapters of the same passion: connecting with people, building relationships, and creating places where others feel welcome.
His true talent was never just in the product. It was in public relations, in conversation, in remembering names, and in making people feel seen. He didn’t just build businesses — he built communities around them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Language, attempting college and learning English at the same time was a little rough .
Learning new business, one after another .
We’ve been impressed with Tequila101 LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I don’t just build businesses.
I build community.
What started as a layover became a lifetime, guided not by plans, but by passion.
My tequilas are part of something my brother Marco and I started on a trip to Jalisco, visiting many different distilleries, looking for the right one to make our new Tequila , we found a little place in Jesus Maria Jalisco , the Napa of the Agaves .
what started as a passion/ dream became a reality , I was able to find someone who could make our tequila the way I wanted it, no artificial Flavors, Colors, sugars or additives.
ATX Tequila is a tequila like no other , a Blanco Tequila rested in barrel for 40 days , giving it a unique flavor.
we do many tastings in several liquor stores for people to come and sample, enjoy and take home.
