Today we’d like to introduce you to Eugenia Rivera.
Hi Eugenia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into early childhood education has always been rooted in a deep passion for children and their development. Over time, that passion grew into leadership, and today I serve as the Director of Bright Steps TX Daycare. In this role, I oversee daily operations, build strong systems for safety and structure, support our staff, and ensure that every child receives intentional, high-quality care.
What makes my position especially meaningful is that I’m not only a director — I’m also a parent. My own little one attends Bright Steps TX. That perspective shapes every decision I make. I lead with both professionalism and a mother’s heart, holding our center to the same standards I expect for my own child: a safe environment, nurturing relationships, and purposeful early learning.
Watching Bright Steps grow — welcoming new staff, expanding our classrooms, and building trust within the Taylor community — has been incredibly rewarding. As we continue to grow, our foundation remains the same: children should feel safe, loved, and excited to learn every single day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Growth in early childhood education comes with real challenges — from maintaining high standards of safety and compliance to building a strong, reliable team. and connections. As a director, you’re constantly balancing staffing, enrollment, parent communication, and ensuring every classroom runs with excellence.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As Director of Bright Steps TX Daycare, I oversee daily operations, staff development, curriculum implementation, compliance, and family communication. My role is to ensure that our center runs with structure, safety, and intention while creating a warm and nurturing environment for every child who walks through our doors.
I specialize in building strong systems — from safety protocols and classroom structure to parent communication and staff support. In early childhood education, consistency and leadership are everything, and I focus heavily on creating an environment where teachers feel supported and children feel secure.
I’m most proud of the culture we’ve built. Bright Steps is known for being safe, structured, and genuinely caring. Families often share that they feel peace when they drop their children off — and as a mother whose own child attends the center, that means everything to me. I hold our standards to the level I would expect for my own family.
What sets me apart is that I lead from both a professional and parental perspective. I understand the operational side of childcare, but I also understand the emotional side. That balance allows me to make thoughtful decisions that prioritize children’s development while building trust with families.
Watching our center grow — welcoming new staff, expanding enrollment, and strengthening our presence in the community — has been one of my greatest professional accomplishments.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about our city is the sense of community. Taylor has a small-town warmth where people genuinely support one another. As a director of a daycare — and as a parent — that community support means everything. Families value relationships here, and you can truly feel that people care about the growth and future of our children.
What do I like least about Taylor?
With growth comes transition, and that can sometimes be challenging. As Taylor continues to expand, there’s a need for more resources — especially when it comes to family services and childcare.
However, I see that as an opportunity rather than a negative. Growth pushes us to improve, collaborate, and build stronger systems for our community. It motivates leaders like myself to continue raising the standard and contributing in a positive way.
