Hidden Gems: Meet Stephen Putonti of CTX Law, Texas Divorce Class, and Texas Divorce Settlement

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephen Putonti.

Stephen Putonti

Hi Stephen, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I received my law license in California in 1992 and obtained my Texas license and moved to Austin in 1999. From 1999-2007, I interrogated Plaintiff’s and witnesses across all 50 states in Texas-based asbestos lawsuits.
From 2007-2014, I was a partner at Putonti, Escover & Rossick where we handled personal injury and family cases and we were the primary attorneys on the Labor Day 2011 Bastrop Fire lawsuit.
Since 2014, I have been a solo attorney handling family law cases (www.ctxlaw.com).
In 2019, I created a new step-by-step method for handle divorce & child custody cases through ‘Limited Scope Representation’ and video consulting using educational videos and Zoom meetings to move cases to resolution more efficiently.
Since 2023, I have been developing online courses and Webinars for people who want to handle their own cases (www.TexasDivorceClass.com).
In 2025, I was certified as a Mediator and I have been develop that business alongside my other businesses (www.TexasDivorceSettlement.com).
Today, I run all three businesses virtually.
Since I work virtually, my girlfriend and I decided to work from Europe and we travelled and worked from France, the UK, Turkey, Italy, and Switzerland from Sept 2025-Dec 2025.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Haha, absolutely not. My struggles include: regular updates in technology and learning systems, new software and products that make work life easier, but come with learning curves, and explaining my ‘method’ of handling cases to new clients since it’s very client-friendly, but non-traditional.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
All three businesses focus on family law – divorce and child custody cases -from different perspectives. My specialty is cutting through red tape and handling opposing attorneys who make cases more complicated and more expensive than they need to be, and doing so with full client knowledge and participation.
My practice is distinctive in that I have regularly scheduled consulting meetings with clients and guide them instead of dictating to them what they should do and how they should do it – always focusing on time and financial efficiency.
I am proud to have built a ‘new’ system and method, regardless of where the client is when they meet me to help them make important and well-informed decisions.
I love to help people who feel like their options are limited – as they go through the toughest part of their life – divorce or child custody cases.

What makes you happy?
Spending time with my girlfriend Wendy and our Golden Retriever Blue, whether we’re traveling, riding my motorcycle around central Texas, dancing, concerts or just walking around Austin and experiencing new things. We love to experience all that life can offer and not get caught up in any routine (or the daily news cycle). Life is to be lived…fully!
