Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Stone.
Hi Samantha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
A couple of years ago, I was working in bathroom remodeling sales and spending way too many evenings and Saturdays away from my family. That’s when I reached out to the owners of BesTex Solutions, friends I’ve known since our days in Hutto, and asked if they were hiring.
At the time, I thought I’d come in and sell roofs. They laughed and told me I probably wouldn’t enjoy climbing roofs or crawling through attics… and honestly, they weren’t wrong.
Instead, they offered me a role in business development.
The truth is, I didn’t know anything about roofing at the time. But I know people, and I genuinely love connecting them. I love helping people find the right resources, building relationships, and being someone others can trust.
This July will mark my two-year anniversary with BesTex, and it’s been one of the most rewarding chapters of my career.
Since joining the team, I’ve become deeply involved in our local community through the Hutto and Taylor Chambers. I joined the Ambassador Program and Board of Directors with the Hutto Chamber, serve on the membership committee for the Taylor Chamber, and spend my days doing what I love most, connecting people to the relationships and resources they need.
What started as business relationships has turned into genuine friendships. Many of the people I’ve met through networking have become part of my life and even part of my family’s life, and that’s something I’ll never take for granted.
At BesTex, we always say we don’t just build roofs, we build relationships. I get to live that out every day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s been hard, but it’s definitely a grind. Building real relationships takes consistency, showing up day after day, meeting new people, and intentionally connecting folks to the right resources and to each other. One thing I do struggle with at times is not always being able to directly refer business back to the people who refer business to me, because I truly value those relationships.
Another challenge is that when you build genuine connections, they often become more than just business. You start to truly care about the people in your network, so when life happens, whether it’s health challenges, loss, or other hardships, you feel it on a deeper level.
At the end of the day, though, that’s also what makes the work so meaningful. The relationships are real, and the community we build goes far beyond business.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I represent a roofing and remodeling company based in Hutto (my hometown), and I actually went to school with the owners. While I’m not the construction expert, what I specialize in is building genuine relationships, showing up consistently, and connecting people.
In my business development role, I’m known as a connector in the community. I stay actively involved in our local chambers, serving on committees and currently on the Board of Directors for the Hutto Chamber. I’m most proud of becoming someone people trust and think of when they’re looking to connect with the right person or resource.
I was nominated my first year for Hutto Chamber Ambassador of the Year, and last year I was honored to receive that award at the Hutto Chamber Gala. I’m also incredibly grateful to be a finalist for the Women of Wilco Awards this year.
Outside of work, I’m married to a touring drummer and we have two children, so life stays pretty busy. What sets me apart is that I genuinely care about the people behind the business, and the relationships I build go far beyond just work.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I think we’ll continue to see a lot of growth in the roofing and construction industry. Much of that is driven by aging homes, severe weather, and the need for roof replacements, which already make up the majority of roofing work.
And while technology and AI may continue to evolve and change certain parts of business, they can never replace genuine human connection. Roofing, and really any service industry, is built on trust and relationships. The companies that prioritize people, communication, and integrity will always stand out.
