Life & Work with Deme Badger of Dripping Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deme Badger.

Hi Deme, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Moved to Hays County from Katy where I attended SWT and met my wife. Started with a production home builder in 1998 and founded Badger Custom Homes in 2005. We’ve been building in and around the Dripping Springs area while raising our three kids and being involved with the community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part it’s been smooth sailing. We have learned quite a bit about the business side of things and how important it is to choose good clients. It’s definitely a group effort!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I don’t think you’ll ever see another custom home builder gluing pipe in pre-concrete stages of the foundation with their plumber or pulling pex on a top out. I really enjoy working hands-on and I’m usually digging trenches or installing conduit for the electricians to pull their service wire through. I definitely have a good knowledge of each house as I’m actually working on them with my subcontractors.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
My cornice subcontractor and I have been working together since 1998. The company that does my dirt work and grading has been working for me since 1998 also. My framers since about 2003. My electrician since 2002 or 2003. My trim carpenter since 2004. I have long lasting relationships with my subcontractors that run much deeper than just the work. I would put them up against anyone else at any price point.
