Susie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Fresh Journey Counseling PLLC was established during the COVID-19 pandemic in response to the inability to provide in-person services. The organization was initially launched as a virtual practice to ensure continued access to therapy and mental health support during a time of increased need and limited face-to-face interaction.
A deep commitment to supporting individuals and families in achieving emotional healing and personal growth. Through both professional experience and firsthand observation, I recognized a significant gap in accessible, culturally responsive mental health services—particularly for individuals facing trauma, life transitions, and economic challenges.
I began Fresh Journey Counseling with the vision of creating a faith-based, safe, supportive space where clients could feel seen, heard, and empowered to navigate their journeys toward wellness. The goal was to provide evidence-based counseling services while also addressing the broader needs of the community, including reducing stigma around mental health and increasing access to care.
What started as a passion to serve has grown into a mission-driven practice focused on helping individuals build resilience, strengthen relationships, and move forward with clarity and purpose. Fresh Journey Counseling continues to evolve as a resource for healing, hope, and transformation within the community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has not been without challenges. Establishing Fresh Journey Counseling required navigating complex processes, including credentialing and working with insurance providers, managing the operational demands of running a business, addressing legal and regulatory requirements, ensuring HIPAA compliance, and developing a secure and effective online platform. Additionally, building a strong marketing presence to reach and serve the community has been an ongoing effort.

Fresh Journey Counseling offers a comprehensive, holistic approach to care that supports the mind, body, and spirit. Our services include evidence-based individual and family counseling, as well as faith-based counseling for clients who wish to integrate their spiritual beliefs into the therapeutic process.
In addition to traditional therapy, we provide Life Coaching focused on personal growth and accountability, Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) to address limiting beliefs at a deeper level, and Functional Nutrition services with a specialized focus on women’s health, supporting the connection between emotional and physical well-being. All of our providers are certified or licensed to practice in their expertise.
What sets Fresh Journey Counseling apart is our integrated, whole-person approach. Rather than focusing on a single area of care, we combine clinical expertise with faith-informed support and wellness services to create personalized treatment plans. This allows us to meet clients where they are and support lasting healing, growth, and transformation.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
For those just starting, my advice is to find a mentor who believes in your vision and can guide you through the practical and strategic aspects of building your practice. Learn as much as you can from their experience, ask questions, and keep them close in your circle of support.
I also wish I had known the importance of patience, persistence, and preparation—particularly in areas like navigating insurance, ensuring compliance, setting up a virtual platform, and marketing. Building a strong foundation early makes growth smoother and helps you maintain focus on serving your clients effectively.
