Today we’d like to introduce you to Teri Meuth.
Hi Teri, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The building we are in was originally owned by my husband’s grandfather, Bills Place, he then sold it to Henry Ott and it became Henry’s Place, his children would open it occasionally for dominos tournaments and private parties etc. we bought it from them in 2020 and after remodeling/renovations opened in March of 2021 as Meuth’s Place where we sell catfish, fried chicken, like your grandma used to make and sides
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Biggest obstacle was the renovation, but with the help of family and friends we got it done, the night before we opened
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I was a Massage therapist until we opened our restaurant, my husband Mark is a commissioner for Bastrop County Pct 3 and is in his third term. He’s the head cook and does an awesome job. People say our fried chicken is the best they’ve ever had, that and the catfish and sides are a big hit too. I’m in charge of the homemade, from scratch, banana pudding, peach cobbler and triple berry cobbler. We are in a small community, but have had people from all over the, including a gentleman and his daughter who were traveling together from Europe.
How do you define success?
Having people come in and eat and leave with smiles, saying they’ll be back, because the food, atmosphere and service were well worth the drive.
