Today we’d like to introduce you to Smile Owen.
Hi Smile, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my first yoga studio in Cedar Park in Early 2022 after moving from California and it’s truly been one of the greatest blessings of my life. I’ve been a yoga instructor since 2015, and I’m passionate about sharing this practice and building a welcoming community for everyone.
I currently management 3 yoga studios (Cedar Park, Liberty Hill, Georgetown) I’m also a mom of three,. I feel incredibly grateful for this journey and for the opportunity to do what I love every day.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ll be honest, the road hasn’t been smooth. I went into this dreaming of more family time and less teaching, but the reality is the exact opposite. I’m working ten times harder now. Between the constant admin, the marketing, and just being physically present, it’s draining. But honestly? The community I’ve built is what keeps me from hitting a wall.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We’re a yoga studio that’s really built around people and community.
Our specialty is aerial yoga, which is something that really sets us apart. It’s fun, unique, and accessible for different levels, and a lot of people come to us because they want something different from a traditional studio.
We also put a strong focus on kids and families. It’s important to us to create opportunities where children can move, build confidence, and enjoy yoga in a way that feels engaging, not intimidating. At the same time, we love when families can share that experience together.
How do you define success?
Success depends on your age and the life experiences you’ve gone through. Each phase of your life, you look at success differently. Right now, I’m almost 40. I think success is just building something bigger than yourself. I am very successful because I’ve built my entire community. I enhance people’s well-being and provide an outlet for them to have a mindfulness practice.
If someone walks out of the studio even a little bit lighter, calmer, or more grounded than when they came in—that one degree shift is success to me.
