Hi Nancy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story started in 2016, when my mom opened her own business, an insurance agency. I began working alongside her as a sales agent, and as the business grew, so did my inspiration. Watching her build something from the ground up as a Latina woman pursuing her dream had a huge impact on me. Her journey showed me what was possible through hard work, faith, and determination.
Wanting to contribute more to the business, I enrolled in a small trade school to study accounting so I could help with bookkeeping. Over time, my role expanded far beyond that. I gradually took over marketing, sales, training, and daily operations, eventually becoming the office manager. Through that experience, I learned how to wear many hats, build systems, and help a business grow. My mom’s agency is still open today and continues to thrive.
In 2021, my husband began working as a flooring installer with my dad, who has been in the flooring industry since I was a child. During that time, we saw firsthand how difficult it could be for skilled contractors to find consistent work while also trying to manage everything a business requires behind the scenes. Like many contractors, the challenge wasn’t just the work itself — it was building the structure and systems needed to sustain a company.
That realization pushed me to think bigger. I joined a business accelerator through the Latina Foundation called Jefas on the Move, a program created for aspiring entrepreneurs interested in launching their own businesses. During that time, I decided to start a construction company with my husband. We entered the program’s pitch competition, won, and officially launched Seven-S Contractor Services.
Since then, our journey has been incredible. In our first year of business in 2025, we generated over $500,000 in revenue. From the beginning, we focused on creating strong systems and processes that would help us stand out in the construction industry. Our specialty is flooring and tile installation, but we also provide restroom and kitchen remodels. We take pride in delivering quality work, building trust with our clients, and operating with professionalism and purpose.
Today, Seven-S Contractor Services continues to grow. We are proudly MBE certified, and this year our goal is to expand into the commercial flooring space. What started as inspiration from my mother’s entrepreneurial journey has grown into a business of my own — one built on family, resilience, and a vision for something greater.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road. Throughout this journey, we have experienced many lows, challenges, and tough situations. Like any business, there have been moments of uncertainty, financial pressure, unexpected setbacks, and times when we had to figure things out as we went. Building a company from the ground up takes a lot of sacrifice, patience, and resilience.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that when you choose to be a business owner, you cannot take every challenge personally. Obstacles are part of the process. Instead, you have to learn how to adapt, stay focused, and keep moving forward even when things feel difficult. Every struggle has taught us something valuable and has helped us become stronger, wiser, and more prepared.
The road has not been easy, but it has absolutely been worth it. Each challenge has helped shape Seven-S Contractor Services into the company it is today, and those experiences continue to push us to grow, improve, and build something lasting.

Something surprising that most people might not know about me is that I never planned to be in construction. My journey really started by helping my mom grow her business, and through that experience I discovered my passion for operations, marketing, sales, and building systems. Over time, that passion evolved into helping build Seven-S with my husband. So while people may know me through construction now, my background is really rooted in business-building, family, and entrepreneurship.
