Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaytee Mayes.
Hi Kaytee, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
my story began last November when I felt called to take a leap of faith. I’ve had the urge for a while to start an embroidery business, I just didn’t know where to begin. As a working mom of two boys, I genuinely didn’t know when I would ever have the time, but I was quickly reassured with confirmation from God that it was my time! I have always loved the idea of making a mark on something that is not gonna wash away. The same can be said for Ministry. In my eyes, my business is a beautiful form of ministry. I love that I get to share my love for Jesus, with others and help people learn to love him too.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In scripture, Jesus said that weapons would not prosper, that doesn’t mean that they wont form! I tell myself this to get through the rough days, because I am a military spouse, a full time employee and a mom of two boys! It gets super challenging trying to juggle all the things, but I always seem to find the strength. I know at times I may fall short but I have always been able to depend on my wonderful husband to pick up that extra slack! Im so thankful for the opportunities that I have been I given, I look at every struggle as a lesson to grow or learn something new! I have never been one to dwell on the negative things that happen, just because there is always a brighter day ahead of me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work is my love for Jesus. I specialize in faith based embroidery and that is what I am known for in my area! I of course, do other things when requested, but my main focus is always making beautiful pieces of ministry to share with others. I’m most proud of reaching milestones I once only hoped for—like getting my products into a storefront and growing my brand within my community. You can find me in store at Main Street Mercantile in Copperas Cove, Tx. What sets me apart is the love and meaning behind everything I create. I focus on faith-based, personalized pieces that feel special, intentional, and one-of-a-kind—while still keeping them cute and high-quality. I haven’t seen anyone else with a faith based embroidery business near me, so I think I am doing good!
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising is that I started my business with very little experience and learned everything along the way. What started as just an idea has grown into something I’m really proud of. I have only been in business for 4 months and have made so much progress, I cant wait to see what the future holds!
