Hi Allison , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began in commercial banking, where I spent over 15 years developing a strong foundation in strategy, client relationships, and business growth. Working across corporate and retail banking, I learned how organizations operate, how decisions are made, and most importantly, how trust and communication drive results.

Over time, I realized my true strength wasn’t just in financial strategy it was in how I positioned ideas, connected people, and helped others communicate their value effectively. I naturally became a bridge between vision and execution, helping individuals and organizations refine their messaging and show up with clarity and confidence.

That realization led me to found AMI (Allison McFarlane Inc.), a firm rooted in marketing, communication, and branding. What started organically evolved into a strategic platform where I help brands define who they are, how they communicate, and how they build meaningful connections with their audience.

Today, my work focuses on elevating brand presence, strengthening messaging, and creating visibility through intentional strategy and partnerships. At its core, AMI is about helping brands not just exist but communicate powerfully, connect authentically, and lead with impact.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, my journey has come with its share of uncertainty, growth, and hard pivots. Transitioning from a structured environment like banking into entrepreneurship required a completely different mindset. In banking, there are clear systems, resources, and defined roles. Building something of your own means creating all of that from scratch while also believing in your vision before others fully see it.

One of the biggest challenges was learning how to clearly define and communicate my own value. I knew what I could do, but translating that into a business model, pricing, and positioning took time. There were moments of overextending, saying yes to the wrong opportunities, and carrying more than I needed to simply because I was building and figuring things out in real time.

Another challenge was navigating visibility stepping into being the face of my brand and owning my voice at a higher level. That requires confidence, consistency, and a willingness to be seen, even when things aren’t perfect.

But each challenge has refined me. It taught me discipline, clarity, and the importance of alignment. Those experiences didn’t just shape my business they strengthened my leadership and deepened the impact I’m able to create today.
