Life & Work with Jeremy Murray of Kitty Cohen’s

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremy Murray.

Hi Jeremy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
This sounds funny now but my first job at a bar was when I was 16ish.
I was hired to get people to dance, meaning I would simply walk around asking girls/ladies to dance.

Right about the time I turned 18 I was completely hooked on night life and openly saying to my family that I wanted to be a “club” owner.

As the charm of that idea lost its shine I began to become much more interested in design and art (mostly street wear and underground music) because I was and had been involved in skateboarding and bmx from a young age.

As I look back these 2 or 3 moments became very important in my adult life and happy to discuss in greater detail if it relevant.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
😂 not smooth at all, I’m a high school drop out with pretty severe dyslexia.

The struggles, wow! Just surviving the service industry has been a struggle

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m mostly a concept developer and entrepreneur

I specialize in bar memories and branding.

I’m definitely proud my bars.
Kitty’s is all about my grandmother and we’ve been paying tribute to her since she passed 12 years ago.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Best hmmmm that’s a tough one these days.
I find myself in a struggle with Austin.
As tech and academia collide iit seems to have made Austin very homogeneous.
That being said i love our food scene so much. Everything from Cuantos to Birdies to every style in between, we are very spoiled

Least: I’m not a fan of Austin’s ever evolving code and code fees. I feel like every time I turn around there’s a new fee
