Today we’d like to introduce you to Conrad Real.
Hi Conrad, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started playing drums in church when I was 12. A few years later, I started playing in marching band, concert band, and jazz band at Franklin High School. Shortly after that, I majored in music at Arizona Western College. A few years after that , I started playing shows around town. Before I knew it , I was playing 7 days a week 14-18 shows. It didn’t take much longer to get picked up by a few bands/artists to go on tour. I got picked up by Ayron Jones and The Way, Down North, Digable Planets, Brittany Davis and and others. I also started a duo called Seals and Real (AKA The Anomaly). Also have been playing with countless artists, bands, and musicians in town and around the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In my ventures, I have encountered many obstacles. To name a few, I played many shows without a car , for about 3-4 years. I also had to turn down multiple tours because I didn’t have a passport.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I play drums for a living. People know me for putting on a great show while driving the band. Everything from stick tricks to comedy sticks is a possibility at any given moment. Also known for having a great physique. You come to my shows, you’re gonna have a great time weather you’re dancing, laughing, or just in awe. I’ve been told that i’m the ultimate Show Drummer.
