Daily Inspiration: Meet Stefano Chaves

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stefano Chaves.

Hi Stefano, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Stefano Chaves is the Founder of SMC Media, a creative strategy and social media agency based in Austin, Texas. A first-generation American raised by Brazilian immigrant parents, Chaves grew up with a strong appreciation for entrepreneurship, community, and the value of creating opportunities rather than waiting for them.

Currently pursuing degrees in Government and Public Relations at the University of Texas at Austin, Chaves has built a diverse background spanning law, politics, public relations, real estate, and business development. Throughout his academic and professional experiences, he developed a strong interest in communication, branding, and the ways organizations connect with the people they serve.

That interest ultimately led to the creation of SMC Media. What began as a small operation supporting local businesses with content creation and social media strategy has since grown into a full-service agency working with businesses, entrepreneurs, creators, and public-facing professionals across a variety of industries. Under Chaves’ leadership, SMC Media focuses on combining creative storytelling with strategic business objectives, helping clients strengthen their brands, grow their audiences, and build meaningful connections with their communities.

Today, Chaves continues to lead the company’s growth while balancing his academic studies and broader involvement in business, public affairs, and community leadership. His work is driven by the belief that every business, brand, and individual has a story worth telling, and that effective communication can be one of the most powerful tools for growth, opportunity, and long-term impact.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like most entrepreneurial journeys, it has certainly not been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been operating in an industry that changes almost daily. Social media is constantly evolving, with new platforms, trends, algorithms, consumer behaviors, and technologies emerging at a pace that few industries experience.

For Stefano Chaves and the SMC Media team, staying competitive requires a continuous commitment to learning, research, and adaptation. As one of the youngest agency owners in many of the rooms he enters, Chaves has often felt an added responsibility to prove that age does not dictate expertise. Instead, he has embraced that challenge by making education, curiosity, and innovation core pillars of the company’s culture.

Rather than relying on strategies that worked six months ago, SMC Media operates with the understanding that clients are investing in the agency because they expect the team to remain ahead of the curve. That means constantly studying audience behavior, analyzing performance data, monitoring platform updates, and understanding how broader cultural shifts influence online engagement.

The challenge is not simply keeping up with social media. It is ensuring that clients receive the highest level of strategic thinking possible in an environment that never stops changing. While that pressure can be demanding, it has also become one of the agency’s greatest strengths. The constant need to evolve has helped shape a culture centered around growth, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering the best possible results for every client.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
SMC Media specializes in social media management and talent management, with social media management serving as the company’s primary focus and core service offering. The agency works with businesses, entrepreneurs, professionals, creators, and public figures to develop content strategies, strengthen brand positioning, manage online presence, and create systems that drive sustainable audience growth. On the talent management side, SMC Media helps creators and public-facing personalities navigate partnerships, brand opportunities, negotiations, and long-term personal brand development.

The company has become best known for its hands-on approach to social media management. Rather than simply creating content, the team focuses on understanding each client’s goals, audience, industry, and competitive landscape to build strategies that align with both brand identity and business objectives. The goal is not just to generate views, but to create meaningful growth that translates into real opportunities, customers, and relationships.

One of the accomplishments Stefano Chaves and the team are most proud of is the network they have built in a relatively short period of time. Through clients, team members, creators, business owners, industry leaders, and strategic partners, SMC Media has developed relationships across a wide range of industries throughout Austin and beyond. Those relationships have become one of the company’s greatest assets and have played a significant role in its growth.

What sets SMC Media apart is its resourcefulness, attention to detail, and ability to remain agile. As a growing agency, the team has intentionally built systems that allow them to adapt quickly as client needs, industries, and platforms evolve. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all model, SMC Media takes a highly personalized approach to every partnership, allowing the team to remain deeply involved in strategy, execution, and problem-solving. That combination of flexibility, close client relationships, and a willingness to find solutions regardless of the challenge has become a defining characteristic of the company and its culture.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
While many people have contributed to the growth of SMC Media, one person who deserves significant credit is Rebecca Lee, the company’s Administrative Head.

Since the earliest days of the business, Rebecca has been a constant presence and one of the most influential contributors to SMC Media’s growth and development. As the company expanded from a small operation into a growing agency, she played a pivotal role in helping transform ideas, systems, and goals into executable processes. Her attention to detail, organizational mindset, and ability to manage the moving pieces behind the scenes have allowed the company to scale in a way that would not have been possible otherwise.

Beyond her operational responsibilities, Rebecca has served as a trusted advisor, sounding board, and problem-solver throughout the company’s development. Whether helping refine internal systems, supporting client operations, coordinating team initiatives, or ensuring day-to-day functions run smoothly, she has consistently stepped into whatever role was needed to help move the business forward.

One of the qualities Stefano Chaves values most is Rebecca’s willingness to approach challenges with a solutions-oriented mindset. In a fast-growing business, priorities can shift quickly, and the ability to adapt while maintaining consistency is invaluable. Her commitment to the company’s mission and her investment in its long-term success have made her an integral part of the team.

The growth of SMC Media has always been a collective effort, but Rebecca’s contributions have been especially impactful. From day one through the company’s continued expansion, she has helped build the foundation that allows the organization to serve clients effectively, support its team, and pursue larger opportunities. Much of the progress SMC Media has made can be traced back to the systems, structure, and stability she has helped create along the way.
