Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Stewart.
Amy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always had an eye for detail and my need to be creative was apparent at an early age. I once set up shop at age 7 with a girlfriend to sell beaded bracelets. I was determined to bring joy to others with something I created.
Working in interior design was where I found my greatest fit however mom duties called when my children were very small and I happily became a stay at home mama.
After a short time, I found myself restless and needing that creative outlet. As fate would have it, the holidays were right around the corner and started to get inspired to hand-make gifts for the upcoming holiday season. One thing led to another and a few months later, Dax + Jade was created.
My favorite part of the creative process has always been when I get to step back and see the final project and the amazing feeling I get from sharing it with others.
I found that interior design resonated so well with me because the ability to create a personal space for my clients to enjoy was incredibly rewarding.
So for my next venture I knew I needed to duplicate that experience. I knew I wanted to create something that was personal and created with the intent of delivering that same “happy” feeling. So naturally, a self care brand specializing in gift giving felt perfect.
I wanted to make sure that my brand was quality, natural, and unique and therefore great effort and love is put into every step of every product.
From recipes to making to packaging, every item is made to order and made by hand by your truly.
It has been a wonderful journey and I have loved every minute of it. The fact that it has grown into a blossoming brand is a reward in itself, however having it as an outlet to possibly inspire others, my little ones included, as well as be a part of the gifting experience for all our customers is everything.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The creative aspect of Dax + Jade has always been a natural and enjoyable one. It grew organically over time. I have enjoyed the journey of growing and becoming part of my local community and beyond but it hasn’t always been easy. Being a mom and wife has naturally been a bit of a challenge to juggle it all and prioritize my time. Knowing how to get the word out and grow as a small business has been a learning experience. I have always gotten amazingly positive feedback from customers who get to enjoy my products and that keeps me inspired.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Dax + Jade is a boutique brand with small southern roots nestled in the heart of Central Texas.
Founded in 2018 and affectionately named after my two little ones, Emma Jade and Noah Dax, Dax + Jade has a mission to share the love of creating hand-crafted gifts and personal pamper products with a custom and personalized approach.
Dax + Jade offers a variety of hand scented and poured soy candles, soy wax melts, bath bombs, sugar scrubs, fragrance rollerballs, lip balms, and more.
I take pride in making the Dax + Jade experience not only an enjoyable one but a personal one. I encourage custom orders that allow the opportunity for me to go above and beyond for a one of a kind and memorable gifting experience.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I am still continuing to grow and learn as I go however one thing I have learned along my journey is to be authentic.
Stand apart from the crowd and being original.
Be yourself.
If passion and a love of what you are doing is why you started in the first place then use that to drive you through the days that are not so rewarding.
Set small goals.
Stay consistent and present but also set boundaries.
Be human.
Treat your customers or clients like people you value.
