Hidden Gems: Meet Dee Pearson of HeyDee Events & Weddings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dee Pearson.

Hi Dee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a child, I always looked forward to family reunions, holidays, birthday celebrations, and any family function that required good food, laughs, and all the family to congregate. Being active in church at a young age opened my eyes to different possibilities, new adventures, and even traveling. I danced, sang, ministered, and even helped assist as an usher at church, which activated my multitasking capabilities. As a teen, I took advantage of my situation and landed my first job at 15 and learned the true meaning of responsibility and leadership.

After being promoted to a managerial position within the first six months of employment, I discovered my passion to lead, motivate, encourage, and influence. At this point, I was planning birthdays, holidays, dinners, and weekend getaways for family and friends. I started traveling as an adult at the age of 22 and discovered a way to travel affordably and at any time of the year. In 2017, my fiance said, “Why don’t you start making money doing what you love to do, which is have a good time.” It dawned on me, at that very moment, this was my calling. Two months later, HeyDee Events was born.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I am a firm believer in incorporating God in every aspect of my life; therefore, I have been blessed to be very hands-on with each segment of my company. The only challenge that comes to mind is beginning business credit. I had to educate myself on financial wealth and stability and the importance of credit. Even though my personal credit was fair, lenders treated me like a child with no credit at all. Even though I am not huge on credit or being in debt personally, I have learned how these factors affect the credit world.

One of my professional goals for 2021 was to solely focus on building my business credit. All while continuing to work on my personal credit because lenders consider it to determine if you are financially responsible as well. After five long months of finding the best route after being denied three times, I was presented with not one but three credit opportunities for my now Limited Liability Company. Lastly, I guess I can consider being a one-woman team challenging at times because I am only one person. Even though I do it all, business plan, accounting, brainstorming, execution, marketing, strategize, etc., I realize I can not continue to do this alone, which is why I will be changing that very soon.

We’ve been impressed with HeyDee Events & Weddings, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
HeyDee Events & Weddings is an event and wedding planning company who offers planning, coordinating, officiant, and mobile notary services. I would say I am known for being persistent, provides exceptional customer service and competitive rates. I am relatable and have built some amazing relationships from it.

I am most proud of being a one-stop shop. Offering as many services possible for my customers is truly a blessing. Officiating stands out because it allows me to not only be up close and personal with love but being the one to make it official is such an awesome feeling. Planning is a lot of work but when you love what you do, it is just another day in the park to have as much fun as possible. I am really great at seeing the positive in any situation, so when my customers become discouraged or overwhelmed throughout the process, I help ease their stress with humor and transparency.

What matters most to you? Why?
Life and how my time is spent on this earth is what matters most to me. Being from a very small family, I learned at an early age how precious life was and for that very reason, is why I made the decision to not only be a part of the experience but BE THE EXPERIENCE. I thrive off individuals who values life and live it to their fullest potential. Whether it’s just spending time with grandma at the grocery store or sitting in the backyard at sunset reading, doing something for yourself, with yourself, and by yourself are key components when living this thing called life. Often times we become so consumed with “daily life,” whether it’s children or our jobs, we forget about “me.” So I encourage others to celebrate small wins, make time for things and people closest to you because you do not get the time back. I exude positive energy with the intention of transferring the same energy to every person I encounter with.
