Today we’d like to introduce you to Deezie Brown.
Deezie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started off recording music in high school during the DJ Screw screwed-up click era that flooded the 90s. A lot of my sound comes from UGK, Geto boys and OutKast due to the fact that my dad played a lot of it for me as a child. I moved to Austin, Texas, after the Bastrop wildfires and from there, it was really based on consistency and putting out good pieces work along with having a good team to help push the art and the brand. I learned that it was also about collaborating with people in the city and finding ways to work together.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well for me, the road has never been smooth. Seems like it’s always been this unpaved surface that I’ve had to just adjust to. It has its beautiful moments because you start to appreciate the journey for what it is and truth rather than what you dream or want of it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a recording artist, producer, writer, and overall creative director.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I strongly believe happiness is defined in the freedom of creation and the love that it can provide. The amount of lives I am able to touch from my art is crazy. And just to think that the music they are finding enjoyment in has come from the struggles and pain in my life. I’m all about giving people hope because that’s something that I’ve always struggled to find myself.
