Today we’d like to introduce you to Jené Sigl.
Jené, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After years of juggling multiple jobs (running my own Etsy shop, being a micro-influencer on Instagram, and doing graphic design work on the side), I decided to settle into a more conventional work setting. I landed a job as the creative director for a small ecommerce clothing brand, and it was here that my love for photography and my fasciation with marketing flourished. A big part of my job was photographing products and marketing the brand, which ended up giving me the inspiration and experience that I needed to start my own business.
After a few years in that position, I was, unfortunately, let go right after having my first child and returning from maternity leave. It was not something I had expected, and it made me feel really lost and confused. But it also gave me the determination to make my life and career something I had control over. Armed with the knowledge that I have learned over the past ten years working in a variety of creative fields, I am now on a mission to support fellow female entrepreneurs in turning their talents and passions into successful businesses.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been many bumps along the way. It was harder than I had expected to raise a newborn while simultaneously trying to build a business from the ground up. My number one priority has always been my daughter, so there were definitely times at the beginning where I felt that my business took a back seat to my time with her. I had also finally found my groove right before the pandemic hit, and then it was kind of back to square one with how to make things work smoothly.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I partner with driven wellness and wellbeing entrepreneurs, providing them with strategic consulting, photography, and digital marketing tools to help them grow their businesses. I decided to shift into the wellness space this year because yoga, self-care and wellbeing are a huge part of my life. I believe most of us can benefit from some sort of health or wellness practice, and I figured if there was a way to use my talents of photography and marketing, it would be towards encouraging and supporting wellpreneurs.
What makes you happy?
I am the happiest when I am living in the present moment. As a creative entrepreneur, I have a tendency to already be thinking about the next thing I want to work on or a cool new idea I want to try before I’ve even finished with the current task at hand. I find that when I’m living and working in the present moment, I have more of a tendency to find that flow state that gets things accomplished and makes the time go by quickly, rather than when I’m worrying about what comes next.
