Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Romero.
Hi Jason, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Elevate Media started by trying to diversify my skills for photo and video into a full business rather than just being a freelancer. I realized that I can only do so much as one person and usually, every photographer starts that way.
I started by filming events on my own as Jason Romero Films. Then my wife started helping me film events. Later on, a friend of mine told me he bought a photo booth so he started to do some events with me. A couple of weeks later, I had some photographer friends who started to help me shoot well. I decided that I needed to step back and delegate people to shoot the events and edit rather than me doing it all my own. Thats when I decided to change the name to Elevate Media. Fun fact that name came when I was at the gym and heard a new song that Drake dropped called “Elevate.”
Anyways I was very fortunate that I surrounded myself with people that had similar interests as me. I want to give special credit to my wife as well who helped me in the hard times of starting this business and who still helps me run the day to day tasks to keep Elevate running. We both built the business to where it is at and now we are a one stop shop for event services. We strive on taking the load off the clients when they are planning their events. In less than a year, we now have over six filmmakers and photographers plus coordinators and photo booth personal. We are planning to expand in sound and lighting services as well.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There has been many struggles but one of the biggest is how to get all these different pieces to work together and seamlessly represent the Elevate Media brand. We are still in the process of finding more talent to add to the team so feel free to reach out.
